Solar stocks explode after hours! On Schumer/Mancin deal-

Manchin reaches surprise deal with Schumer on energy, healthcare package


Solar and green energy stocks are moving higher after-hours on news thatSenator Joe Manchin reached an agreement with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to vote on a package aimed at supporting alternative energy and lowering healthcare costs while reducing the federal deficit.

Among other things, the Inflation Reduction Act proposes a 15% corporate minimum tax, help lower the cost of health insurance and drugs, and invest in all types of energy - solar, hydrogen, nuclear, renewables, fossil fuels and energy storage.

Solar stocks trade broadly higher after-hours: (RUN)+6%, (FSLR)+4.4%, (SPWR)+3.8%, (CSIQ)+2.7%, (JKS)+2.5%, (ENPH)+2%, (SEDG)+1.8%.

Among top alternative energy names: (PLUG)+11.2%, (FCEL)+7.6%, (BE)+7.5%, (BLDP)+5.9%.

Billionaire investor Jeffrey Gundlach praised the Federal Reserve's current policy stance, approving of its aggressive rate hikes and the central bank's new approach of making decisions based on incoming data.

"The Fed is no longer behind thecurve," the founder and CEO DoubleLine Capital told CNBC.

I didn't play Pilgrims Pride, I just commented that if they come in strong @unconventional wisdom 's TSN might get a nice pop tomorrow. One of us should probably read that report and the CC transcripts though, get some insights on things.

As for a few stocks to fill in the holes in the portfolio, ahhhh.... I mean it's a tricky market.
Ya know what our average cost nationwide for 1 unit of natural gas is... whatever units they use.... it's like $9. Do all the conversions and factor in the fx rates and do you know what they are paying in Europe now? $60 friggin' dollars! Bryan S. on cnbc covered it this AM. Had the GS energy girl on.

This is a huge deal. I've been saying all along... remember my "tempus fugit" from last month(?)... I warned about this... and winter will be here before we know it. How the f is your average European gonna heat their home this winter? I mean I don't think this getting enough press. Dude Putin is not happy about the rest of the world supplying Ukraine with weapons. I can almost promise, that mother f'r will shut down Europe's gas as leverage. It's a weapon. It really is.

The U.S. is not an island. European industry buys a lot of stuff from us. What's bad for Europe is bad for us. So I dunno. I looked at our Scorpio Tankers today... STNG... to see how many of their fleet haul LNG. I got distracted (doing other savant things of utmost importance)... and didn't figure it out.

That's our play. Figure out which tanker-line has the most LNG vessels.
And they can price gouge too, because they're all registered in various east bum f egypt island countries.

STNG was up again today, but again, which operator has the most LNG carrying ships?
That's our play. Start digging.

Stronger utilization, increasing rates and in certain areas of the business, rates are improving better and quicker than we expected along with better terms and conditions. We are securing longer term contracts and looking to see more work with some of the Well Intervention assets into 2025.

We've called 2022 a transition year for Helix. We fully intend to transition from a weak market in '22 to a high demand market in '23 and beyond.

In the Q2 presentation, Helix projected up to $127 million in EBITDA improvements in 2023 based on expectations for well intervention rates being up between 30% and 45% for the full year compared to rates at the beginning of 2022.

The company also forecasted higher utilization and rates for the Robotics segment next year.

But Stoney... how many LNG transport ships do they own? I started to dig in, and I couldn't figure it out.
They must be going up for a reason though. Folks smarter than us.
