Tuesday - December 20- NIKE day!

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Nike (NKE), General Mills (GIS), FedEx (FDX), and Blackberry (BB).
  • All day - The results of the European antitrust review of the planned Broadcom (AVGO) acquisition of VMware (VMW) is expected to be announced.
  • All day - Arcus Biosciences (RCUS) and Gilead Sciences (GILD) will present details on Phase 2 data on Domvanalimab at ASCO plenary Series.
  • 8:30 a.m. The November housing report is expected to show 1404K units vs. 14252K in October. Bank of America thinks the release will continue the narrative of a cool-down in the housing market until the market reaches a new equilibrium.
  • 5:00 p.m. Nike (NKE) will hold its earnings call. Companies that have a very high trading correlation with Nike include Under Armour (UAA), Foot Locker (FL), Skechers (SKX), Lululemon (LULU), as well as Starbucks (SBUX) due to the China connection.
  • 5:30 a.m. FedEx (FDX) will hold its earnings call and provide guidance that could impact sentiment on UPS (UPS). Norfolk Southern (NSC) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) also have a surprisingly high trading correlation with FedEx.
 
Really never felt this positive about NVDA before.

After a difficult year for chip stocks, Bernstein is telling investors to take advantage of the share price declines and buy three semiconductor companies that have the best product outlooks.

On Friday, analyst Stacy Rasgon recommended Advanced Micro Devices AMD –1.68% (ticker: AMD ), Nvidia (NVDA), and Qualcomm QCOM –1.81% ( QCOM ). He believes expectations for the stocks are now low enough for investor sentiment to surprise on the upside next year. The analyst has Outperform ratings on the three chip makers.

Nike price target raised to $122 from $118 at Cowen 07:52 NKE Cowen analyst John Kernan raised the firm's price target on Nike to $122 from $118 and keeps an Outperform rating on the shares. The analyst said recent changes in FX, inventory clearing, supply chain normalization and cost deflation, along with Nike management's confidence in their high-teens EBIT margin, albeit at a longer-term time horizon, supports an improving narrative into 2H2023 and FY2024. However, he believes Nike will have to calm concerns that heavy inventories won't pressure U.S. revenues in the second half of the year. The analyst anticipates Nike's fiscal Q2 earnings to generally meet consensus with softness in China offset by strength in North America. Looking at margins, while Carbone has seen promotional environment pick up, especially across athletic apparel, she thinks Nike guided Q2 appropriately and expects its margins to be down 370 basis points year-over-year versus guidance of down 350-400 points. Nike's ending inventory will be key with investors looking for an improvement in order to get comfortable with the margin trajectory for the remainder of the year, Carbone tells investors in a research note.

NORMALLY This would shade the insider buy was he supporting the secondary? But it was a few days later after the stk fell due the secondary-- so actually this idea is still in play.
