From 1k to 500k (Deadline: 2017)

I used to trade with X_trader. The Trading Technologies's desktop version.
Lately, I've switched to the online version (TT platform). But I am going back to X_trader.
Because I experience lots of freeze and in addition, the ES margin is 1420$. Well... I've got 1K.
But the online version was appealing since I am under linux and it's 0.4$ cheaper in RT commissions.
So I am setting up a Windows machine. Again. As I used to have. That's it for the troubles and Platforms.

But I am afraid the problems are linked to my internet connection.
In average my download speed is around 300KiB/s. I'll see how X_trader behave.

so are you going to ram your whole 1k into a single future? or will you spread it out amongst many?

A single one. At first. Or other low margin ones. Like NG, 6E, 6J, ZF.
But I have no acquaintance with them. So ES first, then I'll see abroad.
However I am not going to put my whole K into a single trade.

Are you nervous? How much experience do you have trading?

I have been "trading" since 2012.
Not that experienced neither extensively nor intensively.
Because I've not always been active. But reflective too.
I am not that nervous. No need, I've even not started.
Once in the fight. Wish I don't get too emotional.

With 1k you can only daytraders, with realistic minimum stop being around 2pts or $100 per contract you better be bloody good :) GL!

True. As I said, I'll risk 1 point maximum on the ES.
Bloody good not that much. You can still make two points,
While averaging a 20% or so P(Gain). That's an advantage of tight SL.

Are all your futures going to be on the buying end? Or will you be selling too

With 1 point stop you will be up against HFTs. And they fade, shake and squeeze all the time.

Why not daytrade liquid stocks without leverage?

Going to start in April..

  • Why April?
  • Is the 2 week delay to give your "journal" a free 2-week ride on ET before the inevitable failure?
  • Your delay tactic is working, you have 58 replies and 2400 views - and you still have another week before your "journal" begins.
  • This thread belongs in Chit Chat.
