My understanding is that "US 500 Cash (US500)" is the index not the futures contract.

True, but if you only need it as a chart reference, it looks fine and it's free. Maybe a couple of points difference, steady. I think is derived from the futures, as it trade out of rth.

This is the 1min chart, investing cfd vs es future on IB. Taken within a few seconds between each other.
