Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

It looks like Trump is trying to squirm out of the third debate. Sad, because Clinton needs to be pushed on issues imo. Not only that, Trump strengthens with each debate, although his grasp of the issues is poor. C-.

Trump pays too much attention to polls. Need I remind him of Brexit?

Donald Trump Calls for Debate Co-Chairman to Step Down

Donald J. Trump demanded on Monday that the Republican co-chairman of the Presidential Commission on Debates step down, intensifying a clash that could precipitate Mr. Trump’s withdrawal from the third and final debate in Las Vegas next week.

The move followed an extraordinary backstage confrontation on Sunday night between Mr. Trump’s campaign and the commission co-chairman, Frank Fahrenkopf Jr., who blocked Mr. Trump from giving his V.I.P. box seats to a group of women who have accused former President Bill Clinton of making unwanted sexual advances.

The situation de-escalated only after the commission threatened to call security to remove the women if they tried to sit in the box, where they would have been right next to Mr. Clinton and in Hillary Clinton’s line of sight from the stage — a spectacle that Mr. Trump and his top advisers tried to engineer for maximum shock effect just as tens of millions of people would be tuning in from around the world.

Eventually, the Trump campaign relented....

Moderator Chris Wallace announced Wednesday the topics for next week's final presidential debate, and he was a bit more specific than were hosts for the previous two forums.

Wallace, who will host the Oct. 19 debate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, chose these subject areas for the third debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, according to a release from the Commission on Presidential Debates:

• Debt and entitlements
• Immigration
• Economy
• Supreme Court
• Foreign hot spots
• Fitness to be president

The commission said the 90-minute debate will be comprised of six segments of 15 minutes, each of which will address the issues listed above, though not necessarily in that sequence.

Ahead of the opening debate Sept. 26 in Hempstead, N.Y., moderator Lester Holt said that he would ask questions pertaining to "America's Direction," "Achieving Prosperity" and "Securing America." Prior to Sunday's town-hall forum in St. Louis, the commission said the questions would be about "topics of broad public interest as reflected in social media and other sources."

On paper, at least, the Las Vegas debate seems as if it could be more policy-oriented than the sharply personal St. Louis face off, though expect the "fitness to be president" segment to get rather feisty...

As predicted, looks like no third debate. Trump is duuuuunzzzooeeeee. Now we need a huge turnout both in the presidential election, and we also need to take the Senate and the House, although the House is tough (due to gerrymandering, another issue we have to address) unless we get a little bit of luck.

It could be tactics to lull the democratic base into a low turnout. Good luck with that.

Trump on the Commission for Presidential Debates: It’s a ‘Rigged Deal’ and ‘I’m Done’

Donald Trump blasted the Commission for Presidential Debates on Wednesday, claiming the bipartisan group is “rigged” and declaring himself “done” with it.

“The head guy worked for Bill Clinton. Ay yai yai. What a rigged deal this is,” Trump said at a rally in Florida. He was referring to CPD co-chair Mike McCurry, who served as Clinton’s press secretary for three and a half years. What Trump did not mention is that McCurry’s co-chair is Frank Fahrenkopf, chairman of the Republican National Committee while Ronald Reagan was president.

Trump went on to suggest that he might skip the third debate, scheduled for October 19 in Las Vegas. “I have no respect for that group, by the way, I’m done,” he said of the CPD. Trump spokesperson Jason Miller told the Daily Beast’s Olivia Nuzzi that Trump does, in fact, plan to participate in the third debate.

Trump’s debate diatribe also included mention of the recent allegations that Hillary Clinton was fed a question by current DNC head Donna Brazile before a CNN town hall during the Democratic primary. “Oh man, why can’t the Republicans do that?” he joked. “Why can’t Reince feed me information prior to a debate? I am so angry at the Republicans. I want to be fed information like Hillary gets.”

On a much larger note, the progressives need to work really hard to change the debate rules for 2020 and beyond. It is pathetic that Gary Johnson and Jill Stein were never included. The bar should be set at 5%, not 15%.

Seriously, if Trump doesn't show up, why not invite Johnson or Stein to debate Clinton? Otherwise Clinton will be up there by herself picking her nose.

The American people deserve contrast and choice.

Another thing, even if Trump loses this election, he will easily poll at 15%+ next election. So assuming Trump is willing, he will be in the debates in 2020 also.

I am predicting that Trump becomes a born again Christian. In fact, if he looks into neuro-linguistic behavior change therapy, it is possible to change bad habits that undermine a person. The odds of this are ten zeros in front of a decimal point...

If Trump weren't a colossal asshole and a huge risk, he would have been a fierce competitor to Clinton. His point is not lost on people like me - hardly since I believe Bernie Sanders is the best candidate on either side and Trump and Bernie want to tear down long overdue corruption in Washington and Wall Street.

Is it Gary Johnson or Gary Johnsen? I'd ask him myself but I doubt he knows.

Trump pays too much attention to polls. Need I remind him of Brexit?

Anyone who has actually read available methodology of the polls knows Trump is winning in a landslide. Some of these polls are polling over 50% democrats mixed with 15% independents. Interesting because gallup political party polls say 40% of Americans are registered as independents and 32% as democrats.

This is why I placed a bet on Trump. Currently his oddsmakers are give 3.75 to 1(for Americans) to 4.5 to 1 odds.(for people in other countries) I'm looking to cash out just over $2k WHEN Trump wins. :)
