Wait... the CDC told people that if they were fully vaccinated they needed to wear masks, stay 6 feet apart, get tested if experiencing symptoms, refrain from quarantine if they have no symptoms, even if surrounded by vaxxed people... (March 2021)
I went to events from April to June 2021 where you had to show your vax card to get in... yet social distancing and masks were enforced strictly....

So vaccinated people who became infected either had no symptoms and never reported/quarantined or had symptoms and simply quarantined. Thus what is the reporting of breakthrough infections. ALso most people vaccinated Feb - May 2021 were either essential workers or people who were virtual stuck at home and it was impossible to get testing done.
Let me ask you a question, if someone has the vaccine and has symptoms, they will quarantine themselves until they are smptom free. Did they call you up so that you count them?
You miss the big point here consistently, I am not arguing against the vaccine... I am telling you the media and Biden himself decided to go out with a message that was bathed in bullshit and made the situation worse for those social media doctors spouting off their garbage.
I have numerous family members who came down with symptoms and stayed home until they were symptom free after a HOME TEST....that is probably true for hundreds of thousands of people....no one records that.
ALl you have to do is admit Biden fucked up when he said "If you are vaxxed you will not get Covid... that is what he said in june-July 2021...... dont give me variant bullshit....Biden should have known better.. he has a medical staff. Rachel Maddows and plenty at CNBC/CNN used their non medical degree to promote the vaccince when all they had to do was make an immunology argument.

First let's outline that the federal government in the U.S. does not have the power to institute public health policies on masking, social distancing, and restrictions. Only states have that power. The CDC can only recommend what policies should be put into place.
What we had in the U.S. was 50 different states (and some cities) with completely different policies. Remember that there were 5 states that never had masks, distancing or restrictions -- and were holding biker festivals at the peak of the pandemic. So -- of course -- the message was f@cked up as every state / community did their own thing -- much of it out of compliance with federal CDC guidance as any given time.
The intent of requiring masks, social distancing, etc. at large events in early 2021 was that more than half of the country was still not vaccinated and there were some groups such as children who could not be vaccinated yet. Keep in mind that to get into concerts during this time typically you had to be vaccinated OR test negative within three days of the event in order to get in. Therefore some states still required masks, etc.
At the federal level -- what was massively f@cked up was the Trump-appointed CDC administrators and his own administration constantly not backing staff recommendations and changing policies on whim as dictated by Trump's pronouncements. The chaos caused by these actions greatly undermined the public trust in the government in regards to public policies during the pandemic. It was not a Fauci / Brix problem -- they were desperately trying to guide an unhinged Trump administration who appointed
covid-denier Scott Atlas to lead the efforts -- and Atlas with others totally undermined the national Covid response.
At the beginning of the Covid pandemic many states and communities did contact tracing. They even created contact tracing apps. When you were ill with Covid your local public health department would call you up and validate you were staying home and what your condition was. Our local city of Durham did this in the first half of 2020 and was profiled for their good work in contacting people. However as Covid spread the ability of government entities to hire contact tracers and contact people got overwhelmed and the govern efforts stopped.
I was vaccinated in February of 2021 as well as most of my neighbors in North Carolina. I am not an essential worker. I was in the 50 to 65 age group and this was my designated time. Most essential workers and the elderly were vaccinated in December of 20 or January of 21. Trying to claim that vaccinations in February to May of 2021 were limited mostly to essential workers or the infirm is simply not true. Especially when over 103 Million people were fully vaccinated in the U.S. by May 1, 2021. This is 1/3 of our population approx.
Biden and the experts did exactly what they should have done. They went out and stated clearly that the Covid vaccines were safe and effective -- and everyone should get vaccinated. There is no reason for the leaders to pull out charts and go into an hour long explanation of the science stating the vaccines are only 93% effective but you still should get it -- which would only serve to confuse people. Keep in mind this was done in an environment where the MAGA crowd was slinging absurd bullshiat to undermine the vaccination effort.
The message from our leaders needed to be simple and straight to the point. At the time Biden and others made these statements in 2021 -- the statements were basically true -- the Covid vaccine at that point was very effective at stopping transmission and infection with a vaccinated proven breakthrough rate of a mere 0.56% across tens of millions of people in the U.S.
Yes, our national response was f@cked up -- in fact one of the worse in the world. We have over one million dead, a lack of a centralized federal policy on public health during pandemics, inadequate local health resources, and a host of other problems. However let's place this blame directly on who it belongs -- the Trump administration and the many Covid misinformation artists.
