External lcds with notebook

Quote from omniscient:

there are also a couple of external USB video adapters. This one and DisplayLink.

i haven't used or viewed either, but seems like a cool idea. i have read several comments indicating it's not a choice setup for gamers, but for trading i would think it would do just fine.

hth

Can't seem to find out where to buy one of these Displaylink adapters.

after poking around a bit, i found some others. a few have the 1600x1200 res option. This one has a little video demo (didn't watch it tho).

as for DisplayLink specifically, you can go to their products page and click the 'where to buy' link and it should take you to an online seller. it looks more like a vendor hub than actual Display Link branded products. dunno. and they do have a multi-monitor usb solution as well.

and if you wanna get tricky, go wireless. didn't check the resolution, but just dig the idea of wireless multi-monitor connectivity. you know, finding stuff you didn't know you needed until you stumble across it :D

Hey Jumper, I used the matrox box that lets you hook up 2 LCDs to one laptop. It worked well, but I dont use it anymore. IF you are interested in purchasing mine let me know. I still have the box and all.

Hey M12,

Do you have the analog or digital model? And, how much do you want for it?

FYI, I went with the lower cost option to test out. I bought the EVGA USB adapter. http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/100-U2-UV16-A1.pdf

I hooked it up today and it seems to suit my purpose just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Jumper that looks pretty interesting. After you use it for a while post on how it well it works. I would be interested to learn your thoughts after it has been used a while.

It looks inexpensive too!
