We have enough stimulus money floating out there to pay for the infrastructure of all the pet projects, why not tell every single person waiting on their government cheque that they have to put in a certain number of hours at X wage to obtain these cheques, this is the best idea i have ever heard of.

Most of them will think it is beneath them, and refuse to work doing shit labour, but that is still a bonus as it will take them off the payroll......

FDR extended the depression for years. That's why we read about it today and forget about others (such as 1920-1921) when the gov't tightened the fiscal belt and otherwise kept their hands off.

As for "learned work ethics," no, they already had them in the 30s. Try getting a bunch of people (especially those who have lived off handouts for some time) to do hard work now. They'll show up with their headphones on and start asking about lunch break after the first 15 minutes...
