Excess deaths have been reported in many countries. Some deaths may be related to long term complications of an undiagnosed covid infection, perhaps a few due to vaccinations, quite a few due to patient delays in seeking medical attention for various reasons including healthcare provider overcapacity issues, and probably some deaths are indirectly related to lockdown policies that included closing down schools. It seems changing a significant variable in people’s lives can cause unpredictable and consequential outcomes.
Usually, for every person that unexpectedly dies, many more will have outcomes less severe if the anomaly is medically related. Therefore, reasonable questions to ask are,“Has there been an increase in hospitalizations over normal where people survived”? If so, does anything stick out? And “Has there been significant evidence of patients delaying medical treatment based on the typical progression of their maladies?
It seems there are many causes behind excess death seen in many countries rather than just one thing, such as vaccinations. While Government policies may not have been optimal, it seems likely they will be less quick to shut everything down should a similar situation as Covid presents itself again.
