The chart is meant to identify the crime rate of illegals versus citizens.

The claim is always that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a higher rate than U.S. citizens and that is part of the narrative claiming that undocumented people are coming in and committing rapes and murders and assaults like crazy. A few high profile crimes are splashed around as facts but it is not true.

This does not excuse their illegal status and the crimes they do commit, but let's not attack the matter with hyperbole and hysteria.

The only report that indicates that citizens commit more crimes than illegal immigrants is the CATO report. The DOJ and DHS reports show the exact opposite.

CATO supports greatly increased immigration.

As we said, there aren’t readily available nationwide crime statistics broken down by immigration status. But the available research that estimates the relationship between illegal immigration and crime generally shows an association with lower crime rates.
