The 1-2-3 could be count as a-b-c.
The wave five failure should have five subwaves, there is not enough data to make a decision.
If wave a had five subwaves, wave b may be incomplete.
If wave a had three subwaves, and wave c = wave a, wave a-b-c may be to long.
So wave b may be incomplete.

Shoud be:
If wave a had three subwaves, wave b may be incomplete.
If wave a had five subwaves, and wave c = wave a, wave a-b-c may be to long.
My reasoning: which is not always right.
If Wave a had three subwaves the correction should be an irregular, a flat or a triangular correction which need a bigger wave b.
If Wave a had five subwaves the correction should be a zigzag. If wave c= wave a then wave a-b-c would be more than .618 of wave 1-2-3-4-5.

Fractal wave patterns and "W" pattern point to a measured move UP.
If the "W" pattern is an a-b-c, there may be a big measured move DOWN as Landis said.
