Every Week Is Expiry Week With New Weekly Options!

Quote from SForce:

Ohh I only said that because on that link I put in above it says at the top: No one wants to wait. With Weeklys from CBOE, you don't have to. Weeklys are options that are listed with approximately one week to expiration. Because of their short term Weeklys can be cheaper to use and can provide investors with more targeted trading opportunities. This flexibility can help investors take advantage of market events, such as earnings, government reports and Fed announcements.

Then they set it up so some of them will be dynamic? Yah, that to me just means they're targetting names that could see big moves in the coming week. It's perfectly fine with me, I was hoping they'd do exactly this for a long time, I just didn't expect it. .. I'm also glad it's not just the CBOE they trade on.

e.g. they had MSFT options when it reported earnings, no option for Aug 06, and now there are options for Aug 13 (news pending?)

+10% in a week :)

i agree with SForce that they target news stocks for a given week besides the regular selection.

Interestingly they are only allowed 5 per exchange(8 exchanges) = max 40 different symbols can have weeklys at any one time.

I guess they are trying to drum up volume before they do more. makes sense given how some new products die on the vine.

yes.. some time back AMEX came up with binary options... u bet if the price was below /above.. and u win loose.. binary.. that BS did not last long.... but Weeklys look like they are here to stay.

i did not know that only 5 per exchange.. why in the hell did they make OPTIONS on PFE... also. now that they can do 5 .. can they keep switching. like makiing weeklys on the one which is hot..? ha ha..

Quote from darwin666:

I have been religiously trading options in the last week.. since several years. and kind of get a feel of the last week action.. they do oscillate and end up getting pinned.. ie. the biggies. come to a stalemate agreement.. and pin the option in a range.. some call it max pain.. . pinned down.. .it does happen... just think about the life cycle of a monthly option... it goes on a roller coaster ride. and finally settles.. if it has not moved much in 3.5 weeks. then why( if all things are normal) should it oscillate much.. folks had a full month to move the stock...

now the fun part with weekly. this is gaining nice volume and should behave just like how our last week behaves.. but the monthly option has a certain momentum and throws it weight around..

so we have to take into consideration a lot of factors. we cant just blindly assume it will behave just like the last month .. what do the big boys do now.. do they try to pin.. each weekly option too..?

Just my guess (about stalemate agreement): most likely Yes - sometimes, but not always!
