Amid their struggle to survive extreme weather conditions, food crops are producing more of chemical compounds that can prove toxic to humans and livestock consuming them, a new U.N. report has warned.

I have always been a supporter and promoter of micro-grid involving the generation of energy from smaller local green sources that are distributed across a local community. Most of these discrete sources would be green while small natural-gas plants would provide back-up for cloudy days and nights.
However the implementation of micro-grid requires the re-engineering of the core power plant infrastructure which is currently built around large-scale generation plants in a spoke format over large regions. The existing power companies have a significant investment in maintaining the current status quo and use regulators to stop changes which would threaten their profitability.
Originally the concept of "smart grid" was about sharing power across a micro-grid infrastructure and improving the next generation of power generation. Power companies have turned "smart grid" into a concept of how to add a meter to your home where they can charge you via 15 minute increments and find ways to further screw their consumers.
Cities requiring buildings to install solar panels will not really solve the core problem that a future "green" power infrastructure will require government to drive real change in the re-engineering of the nation's power grid infrastructure which is likely to be costly.

Paris is flooding. A barrage of heavy rain across France and Germany this week has forced thousands to evacuate their homes and left at least 10 people dead.
One region received the equivalent of six weeks of rain in a single day. The river Seine is expected to peak at 6 metres today.
A weather phenomenon called an “omega block” is behind the deluge. In this case the air currents known as the jet stream have kinked in such a way to create a large area of low pressure over western Europe.
How this fits into the broader trend of a changing climate is still unclear, however...

one third of our water is sent to flow out to see or salt sinks
a massive amount of our water goes to nut farmers
and due to the warming el nino many of our big reserviors had to dump water because they were over average capacity and filling.
All that water came in because of the rains which come with warming... drought equals cooling.
