Europe Is Horrified of Trump, but He’d Fit Right In

"...Recently, Trump has started asking voters to raise their right hand and pledge to support him -- .."

Not the allegiance.

That's what I said. Pledging to vote for Trump. So why would you compare that to Hitler?

Yes, I sure am. Are you a Bernie supporter :D
Yes I sent him some money. I have mixed opinions on his positions but I believe he is by far the best one of all those running to lead the country . I don't think he can get the nomination, however, so it is very likely a lost cause. I can't find any of the Republican candidates very appealing, and Trump I believe would be a disaster. Regardless, to me he is the least trustworthy of all the candidates. He is a serial liar. And Hillary, well I think she is a very typical politician, not very creative, smart, will say one thing to get elected, then do another, more or less like Obama, though it isn't all his fault. And I don't like the idea of dynasties in the White House. I'm a traditional Libertarian, not like those here calling themselves libertarians, so if I was going to vote, which I'm not, but I more or less voted with my money already, I'm going to go for the candidate that is going to do the best job of defending government against corporate special interests, and in so doing put off for a while the US. becoming a thoroughly fascist State, which is a possibility. One of his major thrusts is campaign finance reform. I'm pretty confident that a Sanders in the White House Would appoint a Supreme Court Judge that would be disposed to reverse Citizens United, would appoint an Attorney General that would have more interest in enforcing the Sherman Act, and would in general throw up a roadblock to corporations taking over our country.

This Hitler stuff is nonsense. We're still a long ways from there.

Agreed....Hitler was first and foremost an anti-semite. He thought Jews ruled the world. Trump is a shabbos goy. Opposite end of the spectrum.

Godwin's law proved right again.....

The first tuesday in November is Leftnacht, the night of the broken liberals.
Shattered progressive dreams.

I'm going to enjoy seeing our resident liberals being forced to pledge allegiance to Trump.

What a load of shit, the only thing republicans have ever complained about is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, not legal immigration, and yet somehow the left always manages to conflate the two, and pitchfork all conservatives as racists who dont support any immigration.

Trump has made the point over and over and over, that he doesnt have a problem with people who come to the country legally, and yet dems have turned it into a talking point that he is somehow a nazi because he doesnt believe anyone who sets foot on american soil should become a citizen.

Its outright insane to say that dems are against illegal immigration when they use that as their main stump speech to appeal to minorities by telling them that all republicans are racist because they dont like the idea of anyone who makes it across the border becoming a citizen.

Obama is already trying to unilaterally rewrite the immigration lawss to let more illegals in, and you claim dems are against illegal immigration..... come on man, this is nonsense.

Your hearing something different than I am. I am hearing legal immigration, and legal asylum only. I haven't heard anyone, Democrat or Republican, say we should let anyone come into the country, and stay hear, who asks to come, or just shows up. It is understood when someone says, "We have always welcomed immigrants," that they are talking about legal immigrants. Have you ever heard someone say, "we have always welcomed illegal immigrants." I haven't. That expression "illegal immigrant" probably shouldn't even be used around people such as yourself because it confuses you too much. We should say "cross border trespasser". :D

By definition if you are an immigrant, you are legal. An illegal immigrant is by definition not an immigrant, they are here illegally. They can't legally immigrate to the U.S. without having their status changed to legal. They can't legally remain here. I am not saying they don't remain here, and I am not saying we kick them out. I am saying they are here illegally, and I have yet to hear any of your "lefty" friends say, "we should open our borders to illegal immigrants because we have always welcomed illegal immigrants".

This issue of illegal immigration is being blown out of proportion by populist politicians who depend on fear, xenophobia and nationalism to rally their supporters. I agree, however, with everyone else that we do need to have control of our borders. But somehow I'd be far more concerned if the election issue was "illegal emigration" instead. I guess it is just the libertarian in me!

Your last paragraph does not make much sense. You might want to rephrase it.
You must have me mixed up with Jem. In the main, your point is my point too, but you seem to have characterized the Democrats position on immigration differently from my own understanding of it. It does seem to me, however, that they are trying to paint the Republicans as a bunch of racists. On that we agree. The only question is whether it is true or not. I suspect it is not in general true. However Trump, among other undesirable qualities, does appear to be a racist, if you take him at his word. The only thing anyone has ever complained about, other than Trump, is illegal immigration and Obama's plan to allow a certain number of refugees from the middle east to come here which would be legal immigration if it is allowed.. The amount of legal immigration is a topic for civilized debate. The Republican's I believe, at least Trump, and I imagine all of them, want to keep any Muslim refugees from coming into the U.S., the are afraid of letting terrorists in. Whereas the Democrats seem to want to allow a certain number to come here as long as thorough background checks are done first. That is the topic that will be debated and will set the two parties apart. I'm not driven by fear in my position and my vocabulary is larger than yours. That may be something that sets us apart. I think we likely see eye to eye on most of this. I'm a true libertarian in my political philosophy, so I accept the need for good government as a necessary evil to protect my liberties. I'm OK with allowing some reasonable amount of immigration. My opinion is it is good for the country. But I insist that our government make sure it is legal immigration, and I don't want any immigration if it is not in conjunction with strongly enforced minimum wage laws. We must raise the minimum wage, of course, or immigrants will compete unfairly for jobs. If we have a decent minimum wage, it will help keep citizen and immigrant labor on a nearly level playing field. Citizens then have a little advantage, which is as it should be. In other words, the minimum wage must work together with immigration policy to prevent labor strife.

The comparison of trump to Hitler, is ridiculous. A much better comparison would be Silvio Berlusconi, as I've pointed out. Berlusconi was an embarrassment to Italy, and Trump will be an embarrassment to America. He's already is! Did you listen to the Lawrence McDonnell editorial I posted? It has to do with the reasons for the Trump phenomenon.

Your vocabulary may be larger than mine, because you are an insurfferable jackass from academia who gets to sit around and ponder things all day while your life has zero real world consequences, but if you want to compare dicks id be willing to guarantee my tax return is bigger than yours, so which one of us is "winning."

There is a word for obnoxious jerkoffs like you, thankfully my limited vocabulary has lots of room for four letter words. :D

Anyone who actually says that dems are all about screening people, and trying to have tough legal immigration laws, while obama tries to unilaterally rewrite immigration laws to let as many illegals as possible in, is an idiot.

How anyone with a high vocabulary could write that democrats are against illegal immigration in light of (what your wrote) is beyond my comprehension. I just don't understand the lack of integrity.

But fortunately we have google...

Dem lawmakers back brief supporting Obama's (Ultra Vires according to appellate courts) immigration action to let illegal immigrants in.

More than 200 Democrats are backing a new amicus brief that will be filed later Tuesday with the high court, arguing the controversial actions Obama took in November 2014 that could defer deportations and grant work permits to more than 4 million immigrants in the United States illegally are both legal and constitutional.

Note from Jem to Piezoe virtually every U.S. senator in the democrat party backed this brief.

Piezoe... please stop being medacious. It detracts from your vocabulary.
