trackstar, well said.
Yep you couldn't have said it better ... right? :)

Here's a good way to determine whether you are trading with the trend or counter trend.

1. When you are trading with the trend, your trades will have a tendency to move into profit in an extremely short period of time ... say 10 maybe 15 minutes tops.

2. When you are trading countertrend, your trades will have a tendency to not move into profit for a while. Your stops will tend to get hit with alarming alacrity, like here: Stops Get Hit when Going Long in a Downtrend

Who said anything about me "fearing to post live trades"? :confused:

LOL

FTR, do try to pay attention to my comments when I make them, they have a tendency to be correct ... :)

It's one thing to show up at 3:30pm and comment on how foolish everybody was for not shorting the HOD and buying the LOD.

Quite another to make the same call... you know, in advance.

All of these Longs in a market showing a:

1. confirmed downtrend in all of the major US financial indicies;
2. weak bankers that are dropping through the floor; and
3. rising VIX

They should rename this thread to Russian Roulette Traders 'R Us! :) :D

Search through complete history of US indices and find all swing lows having 6 consecutive higher lows to start with.

Maybe then you can make a better inference.

p.s. VIX always fail badly upon (during) trend change

Zen Master & The Little Boy

There was a little boy. And this boy, at his 14th birthday, gets a horse. And everybody in the village says, "how wonderful, the boy got a horse!" The Zen master says, "we'll see."

Two years later, the boy falls off the horse, breaks his leg and the whole village says, "how terrible!" The Zen master says, "we'll see."

Then a war breaks out and all the young men have to go out and fight, except that this boy can't, because his leg is all messed up, so now everybody in the village says, "how wonderful!"

...You know what the Zen master said.
And the Zen master says 'We'll see.'

I never took over 1 point of heat today on a full position. Hope you can say the same.

Definitely not.

But they were all trades with the trend that ended in profit.

Hope your buddies can say the same ... (wait for it) ... :D

Quote from MandelbrotSet:

Are you done stroking yours? :)

Funny how the market doesn't care what we or anyone else on this board thinks ... :D

I have not criticized anyone in this thread, esp. with out something constructive to add. Bottom line is that I can patiently wait for a better price to short. I got squeezed on my short entries on Friday and Thursday. You will get squeezed on yours if you were short from this morning. I will take over your trade from there.

Who said anything about HOD or LOD? :confused:

I said:

1) traders should trade with the trend;
2) when there is an uptrend you should look to go Long;
3) when there is a downtrend you should go Short;
4) andthat there are always traders on this thread who love to do the opposite

Hence the suggested name change of:

a) Russian Roulette Trader 'R Us!;
b) Roll the Dice with the ES; or
c) It Can't go Any Lower, I'm Going All In with my Longs

Pick your choice. :D
