I just tested the above on a one year lookback and got a 3/2 loss at roughly even hit rate. Trading mid, no commissions, and a SL equal to the distance from entry to 2 ticks from median.

No. :)

But saying that, it is a guide. You do not know the ins and outs of it and what it means when price draws against it and doesn't behave as normal. What then that means and the conclusions of it...this is not a back testable strategy with the information I gave you...not an excuse just the facts.

For example...I have this as a guide...If a guide rule is broken I know what that means for price...its kind of like driving on a road on a mountain..break the guide rail and you know what the consequences are immediately...thats what my guides are...they are serious markers for me about what price is actually doing...

If 1036.75 is breached BEFORE 1071.00 then 968.50 is in the cross-hairs...saying it now.

BUT

If 1071 is breached first, then even if it sells off into low 1100's 1140 is the upside target.

These are guides I live by in understanding the larger picture.

I follow the former, but don't understand the latter. If 1071 is broken to the upside we will still target 1140, even if it stalls in the low 1100s?

Well, it's quantifiable based-upon the info presented. I did add a SL = the gains solved from touching two ticks inside of the median on buys and sells. I ran 8 iterations and all were less than optimum at 1:1. If it works for you there must be quite a bit of discretion involved.
