Let's not forget that down in the pit, traders refer to a contract as a "lot". FWIW

how many "cars" to a lot.......as in parking "lot"

term "cars" have been around long time.....

Since hearing the news about the bailout, and that indices are up huge, my 1st thought is that I do not want to trade the US indices anymore. A "centralized planning" on index values that is updated everyday according to government official figures is not the same market we've traded for all these years.

:(
Such a centralized planning wouldn't be such a bad idea were we trading at the top of the range. But to see Uncle Sam meddling everytime the market is or about to hit a new bottom is VERY troubling.

As the guy before you have already alluded to, the term "car" was first used in the grain pit in the early part of last century. Things have changed quite dramatically over the years. Thank you very much! :p

Time to move onto something else ... probably diversify into other things like B1S2 :D

Yeah, I thought so. But back to the subject of "car", I never suggested that it wasn't a valid term, only that it's an outdated word that you wouldn't normally hear down at the CME Spooz pit.

Heck, I don't think that outworn term is used even down in the grain pit anymore!

Party Participating Traders ? :)

B1S2's view on this would be very interesting as he mentioned he is looking for shorts now since the daily swing lows are broken.

Short 1256.25 with 20
Initial stop 1265.25

B1S2 - your view in the past has had you exiting longs over the weekend but holding shorts (at least when trading ES). Has last nights gap (and also 3/24 on BSC bailout) changed your view?

Curious. TIA
