If I were forced to use indicators and could only choose one - it would be a BB.
Can you elaborate on both timeframe and technique with respect to Bollinger Bands?

Put fibbos, mas, macky-d in garbage.

Ya me too - i like my BBs - also RSI sometimes on longer timeframe and moving averages to show some extra confluence when they land perfectly on S/R regions.

Apart from from that - never used things like MACD and even stochastics.
They all lag no matter what anyone says!

I don't know how others use BBs but i use them as such:

I have them on all timeframes - lower bollinger is set at 2.3 as when it goes down it goes down quick.

On the 1 min timeframe BBs represent areas of chop and simple scalping opportunities during quiet times.

On the 5 min timeframe - they can be used as great entry points especially when used in confluence with many other signals - i find they are really good on re-test of highs and lows - represents good entry points.

On the 15 min timeframe - again used the same way - they are also nice point to take profits or targets on the 15 min timeframe.

Top of range, short the top of range :D
Yeah, I'm doing that. I'd still like to know what timeframe you use for BB to establish the range to trade.

Did you guys take this long signal - head and shoulders breakout on 5 min chart.

If it holds target should be aleast 1450. :D

The problem with patterns is that they only exist in the time-frame which you are looking at, and that they are open to relatively wide interpretation.

Looking at another frame of refrence, what you are describing might not be so obvious, or even exist at all.

This market is going down before it goes back up - (current price 1542.00, ES)

Good trading,

JJ

That's interesting. First I've heard of using asymmetrical BBs, but it certainly makes sense. Thanks!

... that may be true...
... but i am showing that we have broken out of the downward channel we have been in all day....
... when you say "down"... i am assuming that you mean below 37
... respect...

Hmmm... so your prediction is based on all time frames? And what exactly does it mean anyway, going down before it goes back up? What are the thresholds of time and price that determine the accuracy of the prediction?
