I was not able to post this earlier due to children related errands. and I will not be able to sit in my trading room today due to house projects, but I ask this of posters and lurkers:

Can someone, Does anyone know what a measured move for a cup and handle is?

(Spectre2007, you have observed cup and handle before, is there some device for projecting a measured move?)

Does anyone consider this a valid formation (certainly, the handle/bull flag has some legitimacy).

from the actual cup there is no way to tell, how much of a move will occur, but the channel its working in, could be a projection point.

its very easy to spot the whales and price traction, resistance and agenda. So far AM session has been to clear out the prepositioned negative traders(run stops to the upside).

From the bottom of the saucer to the line connecting the left side of the cup to the handle. Add the same distance to the breakout point to get the measured move. I hope that's what you're asking.

Hopefully this helps.

Price can move great distance without much volume. Volume is too subjective and can be twisted to meet someone's wants. I never use volume and if I did, it would just add too much info to what I am doing, I want it simple and I want to walk away from the computer. Volume is an unnecessary consideration in the process. Continue to use volume if you wish. I find that it just lays there. :)

Good trading to all. I will speak with you again soon--:)

I have to get back to the volume debate, being an economist i feel volume role in the market is vital to understanding where price may go.

Understanding the market i feel we have to explore the significance of market participants timeframes and then explore the distribution of volume among those timeframes.

How can you understand the motivation of buyers and sellers in different timeframes without analyzing volume distribution at the various timeframes.

I don't understand how you can assess the risk and opportunities at any timeframe without volume analysis.

Can someone please explain this to me if you are a swing trader and you don't use time, price and volume in your analysis?

Have you seen the ER2?

I don't actively trade it i am still relatively a newbie. Just can't fathom how volume can't be a vital tool for swing traders.
