Anyone ever recall the mkt giving back a such a massive intraday gain and gaining it back the next day?

Yes. 25th/26th of August 2015 for instance.

If we adjust for volatility being greater than normal - yesterday's pattern wasn't particularly bearish, although I noticed a lot of bears here by yesterday's Close.

Whats the most amazing thing to me is a 2740 spoos up 27% in 2 1/2 weeks and still a 43 vix. Thats mind boggling. Cramers going to speechless tonight. He's actually for the first time i've ever seen cautious after such a run. He usually jumps on board any rally.

That's what I have been saying, it literally shoots straight up from 2200 with minimal pull back or meaningful sideway action. There's a giant space below on the chart.
