That would mean 50X more people were infected but didn't get sick. That also means:

1. The real death rate is actually way lower than reported, probably 0.1% or even less.
2. Herd immunity will start to work much faster, protecting the uninfected.

Almost the entire country is in shutdown.

That almost is still 9 Rep governed states. The problem is that because those assholes the rest of the country needs to be quarantined a few weeks longer. Thanks Prez and Rep governors!

And they are not saving anything, because eventually they will get hit anyway. So the only thing they do is extending OUR lock down.
