its just another tool,if u use it enough it gets simpler,if use it rarely, you will have a a fuzzy understanding of it,i know how a crane works but a crane operator can place the tip of it on a dimeQuote from tortoise:
yeah, but 34 was r10 off 44, so it's see-saw then?
My problem with r10, in a nutshell
Quote from tortoise:
In fairness to Mr. V, he has discussed it a couple of times. Somewhere, there's a thread about r10. In any event, as I understand it, here t'is:
ES tends to retrace 10 points from a "major" intra-session inflection point.
The definition of "major," however, is your call.![]()

Isn't that what I said?
I agree that the see saw effect is troubling, but the second swing usually gets disregarded. At least that's the conclusion I came up with forward testing different swing highs and lows.
I should clarify my statement on "caution" of entering around an R10. The point was not to long at an uptrend exhaustion at r10 because it may reverse, and likewise for a short.
Quote from Trvlwanderer:
caution around areas that are 10 points from a swing high or low. If you are long approaching an r10, look at taking a couple off.
Use caution entering a position near an R10...you may take some unneeded heat early in the trade.
At least that is my take on it.
