Elon Musk Offer to purchase Twitter

There is a lot of entertainment value to this Twitter scenario.

One of the areas that I would worry about is that Elon will let China have free run of the place and gobble it right up and Elon will let them do it because "free speech" and his tightness with China. No punchline here. Just saying that is something I would worry/wonder about. Not sure the libs are going to be voicing that concern.

In a related matter, I heard that a Chinese company is buying Forbes and it is being financed by a Chinese government owned bank/entity. Yeh. Things like that.

GWB was claiming these were all bots somehow, because Bouzy said they were all new accounts. But there is no supporting data to the claim, so its just a claim. The shadow banning makes sense, but it is also a claim. Regardless, strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
 
As Musk has intimated, there should not be any "truth checking". It is not Twitter's purview and should not be to decide what is correct and what is incorrect. You want to post lies - post lies. Just like you can choose to tell lies IRL. People will choose whether to believe your lies or not.

Twitter should be able to (if it chooses) to ban pornography and of course anything that is against the law.

Amen!

If Twitter (and all the other media) hadn't already been guilty of telling lies or suppressing truth then it wouldn't be so bad. But they've shown themselves as unable to be a good judge of anything.

But it isn't even a question of whether they are or CAN be a good judge of truth. It should not be done period. And one big advantage is that thousands of "content checkers" can be fired because the moderation will be a lot simpler. I am sure they will find employment in Facebook or something.

Should be required versus just be able to in instances of clear lawbreaking.

Some of these frigging social media companies have all sorts of fancy algo's and personal deciders to go after people who are not woke, but at the same time serve as major sites for child porn and human trafficking.
 
It really is a shame because Twitter is legitimately good for interest based social media. Moving it to more of a Facebook style social media will crowd out its current brand. A lot of Twitter’s premium is in the experts, government agencies and corporations. Once Twitter gets super dirty, it’s going to be worthless.

And I totally get coping libs but I’m telling you without respectful discussion and information sharing on important issues it’s going down. It’s like CNN in that no one really pays attention unless there’s something important going on - that’s Twitter’s value.

If you think someone is not contributing to the discussion, put them on ignore.

I understand not wanting loudmouths to spoil the discussion. But as I said, that's what ignores are for. But the "disinformation" thing is complete crap. I consider anyone who claims that there are more than two genders engaging in disinformation. Should that view be banned?
