Election 2024 Foreplay

Is this the most honest Trump's ever been? Some people say definitely...

Now, let us discuss the predictable.

Trump is scheduled to be on Hannity next Monday. This will cause the predictable ones to rise and say that this is contrary to my assertion that Fox is not allowing any coverage of Trump- which I did not say. I said the word has gone out to tone it down.

Fox is handling this by telling hosts that they can interview Trump as part of the campaign mix but there is to be no exclusive shilling for Trump or disproportionate coverage/air time.

To this point, Fox interviewed DeSantis twice in the last week that I am aware of. Once on Piers Morgan, for a full hour. And again on Mark Levin, for a full hour.

And Vivek Ramaswamy got a full interview last week- can't remember where. Once on Mark Levin and on one of the other programs. And probably Nikki Haley in places, although I did not see them.

And although Trump is being interviewed on Monday on Hannity, it is equally true that Pence is being interviewed on Thurs.

Thus, Trump appears as part of the mix, which Rupert Murdoch has approved. Even though he said "our goal is to make Donald Trump a non-person" which pretty much tells you what the end goal is. Of course Paul Ryan is on the Fox board now too, so it is not just Rupert.

But as we know, Trump advanced his goals in the past by having Fox take up his cause and give full prime time coverage of ALL of his rallies. It remains to be seen whether Trump can duplicate his previous blitzkrieg of 2016 while just being treated as one of many.

Remember when right wingers claimed the main stream media is biased and agenda driven? Funny to find out the right wing media is biased and agenda driven.

All of those various aforementioned programs: Tucker, Mark Levin, Hannity, Laura, etc are
talk show opinion commentators- not news reporters.

Over in leftyville your opinion pieces and the news reports are one in the same.

But, yeh, in general - after decades of there being a lefty monopoly- Fox beat the lefties at their own game. Not going to deny that. What are you going to do about it?

Hey Tree,

I don't think people are giving enough attention to what for me at least, and maybe you have covered it in this thread, I haven't really followed it, but the Republicans have a big problem.

If Trump doesn't get the nomination, and he runs as an Independent, which one has to assume he will, that pretty much assures the Democratic party will hold the White House. Right? So am I wrong to say that Trump has the power to put the GOP leadership in checkmate at any time here?

If he does win the nomination, and say he pulls off a squeaker and wins, this country will more divided than it has been at any time since the Civil War. I mean literally, if we went to war in that scenario, I could see young people saying "f no... I'm not doing anything that man says." Complete chaos and a collapse of our nation. How can anyone deny this wouldn't be the case? Even without a war, the rabid division will be off the charts. It's painfully obvious.

I have no idea what will happen, but there is no way the next 18 months, and certainly the final 12 months leading into the 2024 election, won't be the most contentious in the history of this country.
Thoughts?

Yeah, the same way people read opinion pieces and take the opinions as News. You’re trying to get off on a technicality even though the “opinion” shows is what drives Fox News and where its viewers get what it thinks is information. But we are seeing how this works out in the Dominion case, aren’t we? All of these so called opinion shows are being held accountable for the misinformation they spread.

Anyway, it’s nice to see that you know Fox et Al are agenda driven and biased.

As story worthy of Mary Shelley.

Trump doesn’t stop. The right wingers think these republican candidates can withstand the attacks day after day and pick and choose when they want to respond. It’s laughable.

You’ll notice in this attack that most of the points are things democrats have been saying for years but don’t get much play in the right wing media but Trump will use the points to attack DeSantis. But the argument is that using issues related to Trump’s legal problems and investigations is off limits because they have labeled them as democrat investigations etc. it’s nonsense. Trump doesn’t play by those rules. DeSantis et Al should use them until they figure out what works and build a narrative that is effective.

Trump is now making the arguments against Ronnie the Dems would so Ron is going to get it double... trump is a huge threat to destroy the GOP which was claimed by a lot of people in 2016 and 2020 but it just took time for the poison to start working. Short term vision about trump in 2016 is coming back to haunt the party. trump will attack all candidates which will make it easier for dems to do the same and deomonstrate even within the GOP they know it is a shit show.

On the other side Dems are watching this and realizing they will have the SAME EXACT thing if anyone challenges Biden.... to win the nomination you have to attack Biden.....cannot say he is doing a great job but vote for me... and the argument that Biden is doing a great job but is too old and someone else should take over is weak. Dems cannot expect to point fingers at the ron and don shit show and not see 3 fingers pointing back.

The entire Dem party has to convince Biden to announce sometime this year that he will not seek the reelection and open it up to other candidates. IMHO this is the ONLY OPTION for the Dems to have a serious campaign in 2024 and make sure Kamala is told in private "You're out too". But as of now there isn't even someone in teh wings that could step in if Biden anounces he will not run excpet wannabee candidates with no shot of winning even a few states (Butti? no... Sanders? his act is so tired...Warren? Is she even still a senator? Klobuchar? Would rather listen to paint dry).

In regard to the commentary talk show host programs, yes, they have a political leaning and the overall network does as well, DUH.

As does every newspaper and media channel on the earth.
