No we don't. Look, i don't believe in altruism or some universal moral code but the fact is OUR society is legally (and in every other aspect) built on our Constitution. We vote for politicians and they make laws, but they are also bound by law as to what they can or can't do (like seize assets because you have too much. lol). pure democracy is mob rule. Any 2 bit politician can promise people 'free' stuff at the expense of others and get a following of greedy, selfish scum worked up into a fervor to go and take what they're (not) entitled to. theft is theft bitches, and that's all there is to it. You can't say it's ok in x circumstance and not in other circumstances, that's called hypocrisy. the rich are already paying more than they're fair share via taxes. fuck off.

i honestly don't recall being taught that any society fell due to wealth disparity, though i bet they're teaching that in school now. empires and monarchies fell (or were altered radically) because people figured out that nobles aren't special and don't deserve exalted status and absolute authority. Equality here means 'equal under law' not equal finances, which it never meant. How about all the socialist/communist govts, do they fail because of the uneven distribution of wealth? most people live longer than most socialist gubberments, explain that.
