Dual monitor problems

Quote from walk the plank:

wow, 300 bucks seems like a rip off, I have four monitors hooked up to one of my computers, simple 2 video cards , same manufacturer dual heads,. You can get video cards for 50 bucks these days, that are more than good enough for running trading and charting software.

Dont know what this 300 dollar device you bought, but I hope it gives handjobs also for that much.

What set of cards do you have ? Did you have to remove your original video card ?

Oh shit I hope that's not what I need to get going...

You'll need something like that if you're trying to drive 3 or 4 monitors from a notebook, but otherwise all you need is 2 relatively modern dualhead cards... $20-$50, if you buy used on eBay.

(Before when I asked about "special device, video card?", I was going for humorous sarcasm. However, Scalper didn't laugh.... guess I wouldn't be laughing either if I found I'd spent $300 to accomplish a $20 objective. :D )

I have 2 dual ATI cards,, they arent anything special, one of the cards was the original card that came with my dell, apparenlty it is important to use the same video card manufacturer for both cards so little chance of conflicts.

No, I didnt remove the original.

Maybe, take your computer to your local computer shop and tell them what you want, thats what I did, and got everything done bought card and install for around 100 bucks, cheap cheap, not worth the agrivation of doing it yourself.

If you guys are curious to know how I fixed my monitor issue, I connected my second monitor straight to the onboard video port instead of the second vga head of my video card. I was able to configure the resolution on the onboard card. Good luck to all and thanks for the feedback.
