It wasn't my intention to drive him off. I simply stated the risk was excessive and he decided to take his ball and go home. Blowing out on 100-200 pips is too much risk, IMO.
 
I was just wondering how he (and others I've seen on this site) who were (correctly) positioned for a move lower in EUR last week have suddenly gone bullish.

As for 30 contracts on a 150k account -- well, anything can get quickly out of hand so long as your attitude is to hold/get bigger as the position goes against you. In practical terms, trading this large with stops combined with sweeping out your profits regularly is not terribly insane, if anything preferably on a shorter time frame.

Haven't read through the whole thread about how it got to this point, nor am I pointing fingers at all (I don't think riskarb's comments merit a threadbreak), but, in general, if someone was making money in your game and telling others how they did it, wouldn't you have a motive to chase them away as well? Is it such a big surprise that someone would have such motives? Conversely, what do people on forums and funds on CNBC get out of "recommending" their own trades, if not to feed a general sentiment into which to liquidate? Just some passing thoughts.

Yes, for a long time now US$ was the main convertible currency in the RF and other ex-Soviet republics, both in private and commercial sectors. Last time I went (~2 years ago) there everybody was into Euros.
 
DRT's departure would be a clear loss for ET's currency tundra, I mean, community. There are plenty of original insights and takeaways in his posts even for profitable traders, if you care to look closely.

riskarb and others, have you read any of this thread at all? I don't recall seeing any mention or even hints of "$300K" (?) total trading capital, or "blowing out at 100-200 pips", or "excessive risk". On the contrary, this (re-posted) concise summary from yesterday seems to me as risk-aware as it gets. 3-5% of equity typical risk... hell yeah, that's way excessive. Right.

DRT, I would really hope that you reconsider. Maybe omit references to trading size or account funds, going forward, after all. That'll surely cut off the trolls' fuel supply.
 
Get a grip. You act as though you've lost a family member. Yeah, this is a real loss to Gaia. 3-5%? What capital are we talking about? He makes repeated mention of SIZE, which is pointless without knowing the ratio. I seriously doubt he's swinging these positions against 1,500,000, but I hope he is. It's a simple question: What AUM are we talking about when swinging 80 lots? 3-5% isn't risk averse when that limit is routinely ignored.

DRT blew up at a guy who calmly asked how he could clear both trades through the TS account. The fault was DRT's for not attributing some of the size to other accounts. Again, pointless to quote size without knowing reserves.

I apologize for getting under DRT's skin. It was not my intention to run him off, and for that I apologize to DRT. I would not have posted to this thread if I had any inkling that you would all start sobbing.

No douibt you are the be all, end all to the trading world. So perhaps you are just missing the bigger picture here: your baseless diatribe has halted the educational opportunities of others. "Thin-skinned DRT" just couldn't take it?? If you were to offer $10 to a homeless person and he refused to accept, what would be your reaction? I'm thinking you would probably just turn and walk away. Same difference here, bucko!
