Months after a convoy of pickup trucks waving large Confederate flags rumbled past a birthday party in suburban Atlanta, a grand jury has indicted members of the group on terror-related charges.

The indictments charge 15 members of an organization known as Respect the Flag with violating Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and making terroristic threats. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison.

There were claims by the blacks at the party that threats were made. I imagine the blacks said something to the group to prompt that.

It is pretty scary when displaying a Confederate flag leads to a terrorism indictment. This case should be dismissed on First Amendment grounds, but like the Zimmerman case, politically motivated prosecutors can be as dangerous as terrorists.

Interestingly enough the only released video from the event shows the blacks throwing bottles at the drivers while insults were being shouted between both groups, and one of the blacks threatening to get his gun.

I don't know what additional evidence the prosecutor has gathered - if any.

I am not a supporter of the confederate flag crowd, but in my opinion this is severe prosecutorial overreach in attempting to use felony terrorism charges.
 
Probably none. This is a great example of PC run amok. Common sense tells us that the blacks did something to escalate this. They saw the trucks and yelled insults at them and the good ole boys responded in kind.

The Economist has run a lengthy article about Asian-Americans. It begins with a description of Michael Wang, who had a perfect score in his college entrance (ACT) exams, who was ranked second academically out of 1,002 students at his high school, who was part of a chorus that performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration, who came in third place in a national piano championship, who was in the top 150 in a national mathematics competition, and who was in several national debating-competition finals.
Michael was rejected by six out of the seven Ivy League schools to which he applied. Like many other members of this “model minority,” he is no longer willing to take this quietly.

Not a peep from anyone about a terrorist gang threatening a US citizen.

The Ivy League schools use the SAT, not the ACT.

You'll find the article is about Asian Americans in general and not about Michael Wang. Wang's opinion is that he was better qualified for admission to the schools he applied to than other students that were admitted. Short of a lawsuit and the discovery process he has no basis to go on other than his personal opinion. Ivy league schools are loaded with students of Asian descent, and the level of achievement among their students is high. These schools interview prospective students as an important part of the admissions procedure. Perhaps he has a rotten personality. In any case, he should be delighted that at least one of the schools he applied to was willing to admit him.

First of all Ivy league undergraduates come primarily out of 100 high schools in the U.S. - 94 of these high schools are private where the tuition can only be afforded by parents who are multi-millionaires. Considering that approx 82% of Ivy League undergrads come out of these high schools, it appears that Michael went to the wrong high school. He also took the wrong exam. Ivy league schools require SATs and don't take ACT.
