DPD: Snipers Shoot 10 Officers, 3 Dead

With regard to Gray.
By Kevin Rector, The Baltimore Sun
The police detectives who investigated the death of Freddie Gray were told that he had a history of participating in "crash-for-cash" schemes — injuring himself in law enforcement settings to collect settlements...

Very interesting. Thank you. What I would want to know if I were either the defense attorney or the prosecutor in that case is the details of this purported history. If you are the prosecutor, you can be certain that the defense will use this. If you're the prosecutor you want to be able to shoot holes in this defense assertion. I'd want to do everything possible, regardless of which side I was on, to explore whether these reports are creditable. Of course that history of Gray's, if it proved creditable, would not logically totally exonerate cops driving recklessly or joy riding with a shackled prisoner in their van, but it could be enough to get them off the hook for more serious charges.

Where did you get the sharpie, fhl?

And hey, THANK GOD FOR ASSAULT RIFLES IN THE HANDS OF ORDINARY AMERICANS, FINALLY THEY CAN FIGHT BACK, OR WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE REASON TO ALLOW THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? OH RIGHT, 2nd AMENDMENT.

The Minnesota shooting is shocking. I haven't researched it, but our local paper ( a fairly objective source given I'm in Canada ) seems to report that the guy was just reaching for his id as asked to do, the cop realized he was armed ( not illegally or trying to hide the fact ), and the cop shot him 4 times. This is just not acceptable in a civilized society, and these continual events don't bode well for the US moving forward.

What was interesting as well was the fact that the guy carried a weapon ( presumably to protect himself as some avid gun guys on this site do ), and that fact probably got him killed. Sure, meeting an inexperienced and/or racist cop ( hope the former but far too many colored people are getting shot numerous times in the US these days suggesting more is involved ) was a factor. But every time some joker gets on here and posts that carrying a concealed weapon is a safety plus issue I will be reminded of this situation, where the guy died carrying legally.

When I look in this P&R section, I see an irrational pent up hatred of people based on skin colour and/or religion that can't be healthy for a nation. Perhaps some citizens and cops are trigger happy and more deadly because they are in a state of fear egged on by clowns on the internet. Or an even darker explanation exists. Being that pure racism has made a comeback in the US, and there are people who simply see others as being "sub human" in nature and thus don't value their lives like others. Of course that's immoral, but it certainly exists in a few posters on this site, I just don't know if this P&R is a bad sample of what it means to be American these days.

Innocent, decent Americans have to feel some shame for the hatred on this site and the killings in the news. All one can do is speak up and maybe in a generation or two the US will get their shit together and make life uncomfortable for trigger happy idiots and those who post racist chatter online.

Hey moron, did it ever occur to you that the reason the cops are trigger happy is that they have to deal with this violent scum all day long, everyday? They know one wrong move and they don't go home that night and their wife is a widow. Living on the edge like that has devastating psychological effects.

Blacks may well face a greater risk of getting shot by cops in an ambiguous situation. They have other blacks to blame for that, not racism, not tax cuts as piezoe ludicrously suggested, and certainly not internet posts that recognize reality.

please quote me in context. I thought that was the rule here.

by the way... if you identify the source of the inequality problem as the upper 1 .5 or .2 percent of tax payers are accumulating all the assets. Would it not make sense to eliminate taxes or dramatically reduce them on the other 99 or 99.5 or 99.8 percent.

Authorities: Highway gunman motivated by police shootings

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities in Tennessee say a man who opened fire on a highway in Tennessee targeted police officers and others because he was troubled by incidents involving black people and law enforcement officers.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that initial conversations with the suspect revealed he was troubled by incidents across the U.S. The TBI says the suspect is black; the shooting victims are all white.

Investigators say Scott killed one person and wounded three others, including a police officer. Scott had two guns early Thursday morning when he shot at a motel in Bristol, Tennessee, and then shot indiscriminately at several passing cars. When he was confronted by police, he fired at the three officers who responded.

The suspect was shot by the officers and is being treated at a hospital. He has not yet been charged.
