The Republican party released his criminal records to the media by posting them on their website. These are public records that anyone can acquire. The DA had nothing to do with releasing them.

BTW -- in North Carolina a judge must release the video evidence. The DA has nothing to do with the release. Both the DA and Sheriff urged that the video be released. However the judge stated the video could not be released publicly until the SBI investigation was completed.

The DA and Sheriff wanted the video released because it obviously completely exonerates the officers and shows the family's lawyers were completely lying to the media.
