Do you tell people you're a trader?

first impression is everything. if you dress better than the interviewer, you have a psychological advantage. it also helps if you're better looking than avg.

confidence & qualifications come later.

I say I'm retired......lol. I'm 41 and in no position to be retired. My family and friends think I'm nuts. They thought that when I became a broker for commission and no salary with everything against me, not from money, no rich friends, not a frat boy with tons of connections. That career choice worked out REALLY well. Hope this one does too or it's back to selling snake oil to the unsuspecting public.

Have you ever changed your mind after meeting someone once they have given you their business card or told you what they do? Not so often in my experience...

I was in an airport waiting for my flight drinking a beer and started talking to this guy next to me and he asked me what I did for a living and I replied "I trade futures"

He turned to me and said "So you're not contributing at all are you?"

your reply is sadly lacking.

to keep it simiple you are the opposite side of a farmer's hedge or a mining's company hedge.

i suggest you read an article on why hedging is important to farmers, producers and to the general health of an economy.

YOu are very defensive and lack self esteem.

I couldn't care less what some guy who i'm never gonna see again for the rest of my life thinks of me or my occupation.
