EXERCISE
There is a strong link between active people and Ensure you are doing some aerobic exercise (get out your bike and tool around every day and try some weightlifting as well as stretching a couple times a week each. They are strong releasers of endorphins and will strongly lift your mood.

NUTRITION
Focus on a balanced diet. Eata few pieces of fruit, a couple of servings of veggies (not potatoes!), a small amount of nuts/seeds, and other similar things daily. Try and eat fish and chicken rather than red meats for awhile.

ENVIRONMENT
They found that people with hyperactivity disorder were calmer when they took walks in parks daily. Even watching videos like this helped. Get some videos of Hawaii, natural parks, etc. etc.

PEOPLE
Interact with people you care about. I am assuming you are male. Males tend to isolate themselves If you are single, spend some time with your siblings (especially sisters - they found single men with sisters significantly outlived men without). Connect with your parents, family and close friends.

Join up with local clubs - Sierra club, biking club or other outdoorsy events is a great example - the. Even church can help. Meet some new people. Join a charity and give back. This is a great lift.

Phenylalanine is one of the essential amino acids found in proteins, but I am one of the believers that amino acids should be eaten in combination, not in isolated form. Nature provides amino acids in combination; only man isolates them for processing purposes.
Phenylalanine is found naturally in foods such as eggs, milk, bananas, and meat. If you are PKU (Phenylketonuric) or sensitive to phenylalanine, you will react to the phenylalanine in aspartame. You may want to get a blood test to check for this condition. Over the past 20 years, humans have become more aware of PKU reactions because human beings began using isolated phenylalanine to the degree it is harmful to some individuals, many as aspartame side effects. My suggestion would be to research PKU and phenylalanine extensively. Phenylalanine can be very harmful to diabetics.Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare, inherited metabolic disease that results in mental retardation and other neurological problems when treatment is not started within the first few weeks of life. When a very strict diet is begun early and well-maintained, effected children can expect normal development and a normal life span.
Elevations of blood phenylalanine are dangerous for those with PKU, and require treatment and modification. A child with a level less than 6 mg/dl does not need to be on a special diet and is not risk for mental retardation, but should avoid aspartame at all cost due to the 50% phenylalanine levels.
Scientists have been able to show that carriers had higher phenylalanine levels in their urine than non-carriers.Read all food labels and avoid anything with isolated amino acids. You want to buy products with at least eight amino acids in combination.
Aspartic Acid — Like MSG (glutamic acid), it is an excitotoxic amino acid. When taken in significant quantities, in free form (unbound to protein), especially in liquid, it has been shown to significantly spike the plasma levels of aspartic acid. In animal experiments such spikes have been shown to destroy small numbers of cells in areas of the brain not protected by the blood brain barrier (BBB). This effect is seen in young animals. Fetuses would also be likely to be susceptible to an increased concentration of aspartic acid. While the plasma level of aspartic acid obtained from aspartame may not be high enough to cause brain cell death, it may effect brain development. Fetal brain development is very sensitive to the levels of glutamic acid. Since recent, independent research has shown that glutamic acid can cross the placenta, one might expect that high levels of aspartic acid could also cross the placenta.
Aspartic acid doses from aspartame are lower than that for glutamic acid found in supplements. However, since aspartame is often found in liquid form, the aspartic acid is absorbed very quickly leading to a much higher blood level than would be seen if slower-absorbing supplements (e.g., pill, capsules) were taken. By the way, the effects of aspartic acid and glutamic acid are cumulative, so that anywhere who takes both aspartame and MSG in their diet is asking for trouble.

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, carbinol, wood alcohol, wood naphtha or wood spirits, is a chemical compound with chemical formula CH3OH (often abbreviated MeOH). It is the simplest alcohol, and is a light, volatile, colourless, flammable, poisonous liquid with a distinctive odor that is somewhat milder and sweeter than ethanol (ethyl alcohol). At room temperature it is a polar liquid and is used as an antifreeze, solvent, fuel, and as a denaturant for ethyl alcohol. It is also used for producing biodiesel via transesterification reaction.
The last component of aspartame is methanol, better known as wood alcohol, a “deadly poison,” claims Dr. Roberts. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends less than eight milligrams per day of methanol. A typical liter of an aspartame diet soda contains approximately 55 milligrams. Complications of methanol poisoning include blindness, brain swelling, pancreatitis, numbness, shooting pains, cardiac changes, and death (28, 42-45). According to Aspartame Consumer Safety Network, when ingested, methanol breaks down into formaldehyde, “known to cause cancer, accumulating slowly without detection in the body” (The Deadly Deception 2).

In college i didn't give two shits about my grades i mean i'd never go to class or really apply myself and study because i just didn't care. Still pulled off a 2.75 gpa somehow.

If someone asks me how i feel about pretty much anything my reaction is always apathetic.

I always thought it was just because i'm extremely lazy because i've never felt "depressed" or sad daily but some recent research and a post by fractal r us in the "nothing makes me happy thread" made me think about tackling this issue with supplementation (DL-Phenylalanine).

So my question is, does anyone else feel this way about life, am i secretly depressed, will supplementation help or am i just a lazy ass?

You dont need drugs. You need to get to the cause of what is wrong. Tony Robbins says you are not lazy, you just have impotent goals, goals that dont that dont pull you enough, that dont excite you enough, they are not real enough. We are all lazy when we have nothing to look forward to or nothing strong enough to pull us. Check this video out so you can see what i mean.

Phenylalanine is a hidden danger to anyone consuming aspartame.

"Phenylalanine" is "L-phenylalanine". We're talking about "D-Phenylalanine" in this thread which is a different thing from what's in aspartame. They may have the same chemical formula, but your body will generally react to different enantiomers in very different ways due to the fact that almost every biologically important compound in a living cell is chiral in nature.
