DIS has dissed normalcy

Half the characters being LGBT...or minority seems a bit high based on actual numbers, but it makes good sense from a business standpoint for Disney to at least move some in this direction. Minority money is just as good as WASP. Best time to get rid of narrow mindedness is when kids are young. By the time they are adults they have already formed their irrational prejudices. Hard to get rid of it at that point, and you end up with Jackasses such as DeSantis and Trump in charge...

Trump called Jerry Nadler a "short fat jew", after numerous run-ins with Nadler in Manhattan courts in which Trump lost nearly every time to Nadler's superior intellect. Well, as a matter of fact, there seems to be opinion from at least one noted religion historian that the real Jesus, assuming there was one, would have looked more like Nadler than the tall thin, golden-lock-headed Willem DeFoe who played Jesus on the Big Screen. Nothing but good can come from a wider range of character depiction in Disney produced media.

So you think that this is a good business decision and that LGBTQ people have a large % of kids, do you? And that the negative influence from straight or traditional parents going "yeah, I don't want my kid seeing that" isn't enough to overwhelm the positive from additional LGBTQ parents (who would watch the other moves anyway)?

Yet another example of how your academia experience points out your lack of real world business experience in glaring fashion.

Disney is global. Their catalog is the envy of every entertainment company.

We are seeing this with the major film studios too. They are making movies and entertainment for a global audience and relying on streaming their catalog. It makes money.

If you think you understand Disney’s bottom line better than they do I assure you, you are mistaken.

I remember when Nike backed Kapernick and people said “go woke, go broke” then Nike blew out an earnings record.

These companies aren’t stupid.

Not sure this statement/word salad makes grammatical sense, but I believe you might be saying that by allowing homosexual content in children's movies, it prevents LGBTQ children (the argument of whether kids can actually be LGBTQ aside) from being subject to my - traditional - "distorted" world view.

Can you clarify that is what you mean?

I'd just like you to be on record here. You're specifically saying that my view (which is that children not be subject to homosexual content) is "distorted".

Said another way, you see nothing wrong with exposing young children to homosexual content. Is this accurate?
 
It's an interesting discussion. At first I was going to oppose gay content for young people. But then for perspective, my wife is Asian. How would I feel about people protesting cross-cultural marriage content? I guess times are changing.

Parents ultimately have the responsibility of deciding what's appropriate, given their values.

Big picture though, I think alternative lifestyle content should be for adults not children.

Some people would prefer their children not be exposed to certain content they find to be deviant. Just like not letting kids watch R rated movies, because sexual content isn't appropriate, we don't want homosexual content in their faces either. Cartoons should be safe from this.

Or maybe you think kids should be able to watch movies with strippers?
