I'm not totally against religion, many people get much out of it, and the social aspect is very appealing. And most of the churches are not radical and promote good values and are tolerant of others views and many of the members are genuinely nice people.1) It's the mean religious people like you and phoenix that give it a bad name, thankfully you guys are in the minority.

Maybe he was afraid somebody would point out the contradiction in upholding the scientific method while abandoning it...

The biggest problem with Secular Progressivism is that is doesn't fill the void it creates with anything other than scientific theory, the operative word being theory, and dependence on government. Being "liberated" from your faith isn't necessarily a good thing if you're left wandering in the wilderness of uncertainty with nothing to hang on to other than another unproven theory, and a inept/corrupt government. And on this subject, we're all uncertain to some degree, unless you're nuts. Then you are absolutley sure of yourself.

I've been down this road before with stuPID. It appears modern science has changed the definition of scientific theory from when we were in school.
Now they consider a scientific theory, fact - until proven wrong. Usually by another unproven theory.

(yeah I know, don't even get me started)

All you state are your opinions of what you think is fact. You never, and I mean NEVER, present any evidence or explanation to convince anyone of your blind opinions. You should just go find yourself another forum with some grade schoolers to argue with. You're out of your league here.
