Die hard Liberal has an epiphany on VA scandal.

I think the reluctance, thanks to that period, and the fact that most folks basically inherit their politics, is largely a kind of "cultural inertia", akin to turning a tanker. A society's political climate changes slowly (outside of crisis). But the change is happening. Much to the right's chagrin.

And then we have the confounding matter of fiscal vs. social liberalism/conservatism. I don't know how those on the Gallup poll shown were interviewed.

I think you are vastly overstating the belief that society as a whole views "liberalism" in a negative light, and therefore people are pretending they are centrist. The more likely view is that they, indeed, do believe that they are centrist and haven't really done the analysis to see where they fall on the spectrum.

As for the Gallup poll, it is likely based on political leaning in general, not fiscal or social issues - most people do not distinguish (though they should).

The cover up has gone on too long. Vet's have dies by the thousands over several decades waiting for treatment. How many died from exposure to Agent Orange alone? The VA has been cooking the books for decades. This is not a new story, but it has come to a head and the phony patriots in government are caught with their pants down. They all like to talk about our "hero vets", but when it comes down to it veterans are just cannon fodder and when we're used up we're pretty much left to fend for ourselves. Now they have to do something, or be seen as the bullshit artists they really are.
Obama did what you would expect a leftist to do. He threw a bunch of money at it. Pretty much rewarding incompetence, like they do with all government programs. Now he once again feigns ignorance. This guy has taken plausible deniability to a whole new realm of bullshit. The guy is a speech maker, nothing else. He doesn't want to know anything about this issue, or anything else. He seems to find out everything while watching the news. Even Sgt. Shultz would be saying, com'on dude, you're taking this dummy act too far. What we have is a president who has been on a 6 year campaign trail, with 2 more to go. Calling him an empty suit is an understatement.

You need to educate yourself about how the senate works and then you'll understand. Learning is a good thing.

Perhaps you do, Bigarrow. Wallet was implying that the only way they could block legislation is with Democrat help, since they are the minority. You seem to have missed that, since you're blaming only Republicans.

LOL the badest fuckers on the planet post on ET daily and they're all right wing nuts, what are the odds.

Some of the dumbest fuckers on the planet post on ET daily, too. Most of them stand on the left. And it's not "badest", unless you're suggesting they make a lot of bids on jobs, items, etc.

You embarrassing yourself Tao, trying to fit in with your idiot friends on here.

Probably by getting Democrats to sign on to it.

Additionally, if you read more about it, you can see the bill was not paid for, even though democrats tried to play it off with accounting gimmicks to pretend it was. So it was increasing spending. Reid also would not allow a separate vote on Iran sanctions, and the GOP tried to apparently get him to include that in the veteran bill, which he refused to listen to. So while the GOP probably shouldn't have made the Iran sanctions part of the agreement, Reid was just as much at fault for saying he would not consider that as a possibility.

If you ask me, we need to dump them all into the river with cement shoes.

From the article posted.
In a 56-41 vote Thursday, the motion to waive a budget point of order against the bill failed, as Democrats fell short of the 60 votes needed to overcome the Republican roadblock.

Be careful Tao, you might be destroying brain cells tagging along with those mental midgets Lukey, max and the rest of the ET hee haw crowd.

In reference to voting against the "accountability" Bill for the VA healthcare system, Sanders told CNN: “People die every day.”

Hey Comrade Sanders, you trying to out do your girl Clinton? These people just really don't give much of a shit when the people defending our country die. Of course, any bill with the word accountability in it is sure to not play well with this administration. There isn't anyone accountable for anything. Lets do some more "investigating". Yeah, that's the ticket. We're "looking into it". Meanwhile, be sure to get that flag out this weekend, tie a couple yellow ribbons round the tree, get a parade or two going, work up a tear while speaking of our "heroes". But hold someone accountable while they die on a waiting list? Actually put something up besides lip service. Naw, fuck'em. We got what we wanted out of'em, now go away. You're making us uncomfortable with your reality.
