Can I ask why no asym flies now?? thxI don't trade any asym-flies now. I am long local and upside vol (not simply long tails). I stopped trading that stuff in mid-2019.

You guys are fkg lucky a baller like dest posts here.... he's the board's mvp. #truth
Finn made 5x what you make in a week (yours is sim), and his is real money. F if that isn't cause for self-reflection or a 9mm I don't know what is.

I’ll answer this question.
who cares. You don’t listen to someone because of their pnl. You listen to them if their wisdom is worth absorbing.
EACH ET member should have then these rights if you do it for one person. Even if his name is God, sorry mistake, Des.
You will have a fulltime job, and half empty threads if you do that. The only thing that will happen is a glorification of the OP. Reminds me of the democratic regimes like in Russia and North Korea.
Only what fits Des story will appear and all the rest will disappear. Looks more like indoctrination then intellectual discussions.
I have never seen a person with a more disgusting personality then Des.
This pops up when you open Elitetraders website:
EliteTrader.com is a group of 100,000+ financial traders that have meaningful conversations to help each other learn faster, develop new relationships, and avoid costly mistakes.
Meaning full conversations? A large percentage of Des posts are agressive, insulting, childish, full of fake arguments/screenshots. And the list op people who confirm that he has a horrible personality is long.
Develop new relationships? There are quite a lot of hate relationships created on ET. And Des is top of the list in starting/creating these "relationships".
I had in the past several discussions with you, but these discussions never dropped to the "level" of Des "discussions" which are rather agressive insults.
Personally, I learned the hard way to not trust or listen to anyone. I don't care about wisdom or philosophy as it relates to trading as that's not going to put any money in my pocket unless it's something I can test and verify for myself.
Generally, those who have something valuable to teach in trading will not give that away and those that don't have anything of value to teach can't stop running their mouth. The blind leading the blind. It would not surprise me if > 85 % of posters on ET at present date does not earn any money on their trading operations. And for the select few that does earn money I've no idea how much they actually earn. It would be very interesting to know.
In (retail) trading we're alone. The sooner one can accept that, IMO, the sooner one can have a chance to start some real learning by focusing on what's actually needed and stop looking for guidance where there is none to be found. Considering the odds for any retail trader to make it on his own and the incredible effort needed it's best to just give up before even giving it a shot.
As for destriero, I suspect he's the real deal, but at the end of the day I don't really know. And I do agree with NoahA that instead of getting random day-by-day P&Ls it would be interesting to see a year-to-date P&L curve to put that in context.
That’s not true. People share stuff all the time. What people don’t do is give away a complete edge.
You aren’t alone. You just haven’t found someone you connect with or you are expecting too much. The amalgamation of everyone’s sharing can help you build an edge.
you shared some interesting intraday insights with me over PM once.
I have developed some interesting strategies and trade ideas that have earned because of this forum.
Can I ask why no asym flies now?? thx
Oh, for sure. I'm alone. I gave up on the idea of comradery or team work a long time ago having tried to make some lasting connections. I've connected with a few people here and talked privately, but nobody will give away anything beyond generalities and I respect/accept that.
Keep in mind that you have an industry background and have a different vantage point than me.
My assumption is the lone retail trader entering this business on his own. The chances of getting mislead in the wrong direction is far greater than being lead in the right direction because the ones that are only too eager to share usually don't know shit.
I take that as a compliment. Thank you.
Well, I can't disagree with that. The bulk of what I do was modeled/inspired by someone else on this board that stopped posting a long time ago and to this date I don't anything about his performance. That said, he never gave any specifics, so it was first when I started doing serious research and testing on my own guided by those principles that I started to learn and make some progress.
Anyway, I may still belong to the group that doesn't have anything valuable to share and maybe I just get lucky once in a while, so I stay light on the mentoring and don't try to teach anyone except common sense and a few words of warnings here and there. Mostly encouraging people to give up.
Now, I apologize to destriero for derailing this topic and going off in a tangent not quite related to the thread.
