inb4: "How dare you teach evolution, immunology/virology, and astronomy w/my tax dollars!"
Right, because those have no real-world use at all. Especially compared with high value add topics like "Gender Studies" and "Racial Inequality".

I agree with the not require them part, if that means specifically require them, but I'm fine with a requirement for electives. The "not getting hired" part is bunkum; no one is going to not get a job because they took an elective with, say, Zinn's History of the US as a course book. The debt part is up to the student--in a free society. Conservatives really have morphed quite rapidly into the "snowflakes" they decried so recently.Private universities (so-called "bible thumping" or otherwise) can do whatever they'd like, and state universities can still teach these classes, they just cant require them as part of non-related degrees. And they have to inform students that go for specific degrees in these courses that they will likely be not getting hired by anyone and stuck with debt (as they tend to do). So yeah, as a resident of Florida, I am just fine with this.
Depends who you ask. And if book banning continues you can bet there will be more people around later who don't believe those have "real world use".Right, because those have no real-world use at all.

If DeCuntis and his team were smart he would sit 2024 out.
