DeSantis for the win

Less than half of Florida voters would choose ‘polarizing’ DeSantis new poll finds

Ron DeSantis is facing much more challenging odds of winning re-election than some would assume as a just-released poll finds less than half of Floridians would vote for their Republican governor.

The poll, released by Florida progressive groups but more heavily weighted toward a GOP electorate finds just 48 percent of all registered voters would vote for DeSantis, and 43 percent would choose the Democratic nominee, Florida Politics reports. The Democratic gubernatorial primary is August 23, between U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, their former governor, and Nikki Fried, the current commissioner of agriculture.

“About 2,244 registered Florida voters [were] weighted to reflect a midterm electorate favorable to Republicans. Respondents were surveyed between July 26 and 31.” The poll was released by by Progress Florida and Florida Watch.

DeSantis is viewed favorably by 50% of voters, but unfavorably by 48%.

LOL!

Meanwhile the RCP average shows DeSantis with over an 8 point advantage to Crist, and a 12 point advantage to Fried.

Hahaha...

Florida is being infested with monkeypox , but DeSantis says he's ''sick of politicians trying to sow fear into the public.''

DeSantis scorns idea of monkeypox emergency; sees other states’ declarations as power plays

Gov. Ron DeSantis lashed out at big blue-state governors who’ve declared emergencies over monkeypox, accusing them and the news media of attempting to stoke fear as a way of controlling people.

“Any of these politicians you see out there trying to scare you about this — do not listen to their nonsense,” he said.

“I am so sick of politicians —

Cases mounting
As of Tuesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 25,391 monkeypox cases in 83 countries, with 6,326 cases within the United States.

In Florida, the state Department of Health shows a caseload of 525 statewide, including 237 cases in Broward County, 135 in Miami-Dade, 32 in Orange, 30 in Palm Beach, 22 in Pinellas, and 21 in Hillsborough counties.

DeSantis was having none of it. “So, it ends up coming, ya gotta deal with this rationally,” he continued.

Toward the end of his remarks, DeSantis brought up what’s become a familiar complaint for him: that the Biden administration uses its power to punish Floridians because of the president’s political differences with the governor.

“If I say the sky is blue, they’re going to attack me for that, so I get that,” the governor said.

Rasmussen Poll

Florida Is Most Desirable State to Live

More Americans would rather live in rural areas or small towns than in cities, and Florida leads the list of states where they’d move if they had the chance.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 18% of American Adults would rather live in Florida if they could move to any other state they wanted. Eleven percent (11%) would prefer California, and 10% would choose New York. Just six percent (6%) say they’d rather live in Pennsylvania and only four percent (4%) pick Illinois. Thirty-seven percent (37%) said they would choose to live in some state other than the six named, which are the most populous U.S. states. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 U.S. American Adults was conducted on July 14 and 17, 2022 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

I think we should stop being surprised that with modern technology people are choosing to move out of expensive cities and live in suburban and rural areas as long as they have internet and cable and a road.

The study cited above lists 39% of people said FL NY or CA which have beautiful coastal beaches or wealthy suburban areas and major cities.

Also... 1000 people.... seriously...

That being said, people are moving out of Portland, Seattle, San Francisco etc. in droves and I don't think it is because the rural areas now have internet and Arby's. It is because the lefties have "improved" them to the point where they are no longer liveable.

Also, libs, please do not put a bunch of population data up to show that some of these cities have actually gained population. We get that. Every minute a new tent is set up on the sidewalk or the neighborhood playground.

yet the poll cited above said that 22% would choose to live in NY or CA..... CA is not just San Fran and NY is not just NYC

also homeless people dont get counted in population tallies..

Not necessarily true. The Census Bureau authorizes/instructs the use of several different methdologies to make estimates, and allows registration for any type of benefit to count.

When can agree that the counts might be inaccurate but since states and municipalities want to drive their population numbers up as high as possible to get more funds, they have considerable incentive to include- rather than overlook- homeless populations.

Instead of bashing Biden and thinking he can run the country MoRon should rather pay more attention to Florida's education situation which desperately needs someone competent.
And why is he suddenly against guns????

Ron DeSantis refuses to allow firearms at his rallies — even after saying 'gun-free zones' aren't safe

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) hasn't announced whether or not he'll run for president in 2024, but as he tries to promote himself and other GOP candidates, he's traveling the country with a gun-free zone for events, despite the fact that he's decried such zones as being ripe targets for mass shooters.

"The Buffalo guy said he wanted to go where he knew there wouldn't be blowback from people being armed, and so he tried to find a gun-free zone," DeSantis said about the mass shooter that opened fire at a grocery store in New York state.

But as Insider discovered, DeSantis has a gun-free zone of his own to protect his own safety. While he's in Arizona, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, firearms will be strictly prohibited. And it isn't liberals who are showing up to greet the Florida guy with an AR-15.

While DeSantis is campaigning around the country, his state is having a crisis in education. There is such a large teacher shortage that the state desperately seeks 9,000 more teachers in the next month.

For the past 16 years, Florida has steadily seen an increase in graduation rates in the state. Once DeSantis took over, however, those numbers slowed considerably. Last year, the graduation rates increased just 0.1 percent, according to his own Florida Department of Education.

I'm sure you'll ask all the politicians against guns why they have so much personal protection from people with guns, too, right? I mean, you're nothing if not fair and balanced, right, Spike?

This is an inconsistency among them all, pro or con. Guns around thee but not around me.
