DeSantis for the win

Show us the numbers for the past few months. You know… the time period when Florida led the nation in easily preventable Covid deaths — both in raw numbers and per capita.

Why would we focus just on a period of time when there was an outbreak in Florida but not most other states? So we can twist the narrative the way you want it?

I mean, that would be like me posting this chart showing community transmission at the moment and saying Florida is the best!

You have to look at the entire pandemic timeline to determine where each state sits in the numbers.

New York
Mandates

In middle school they should have taught people to read the left side of the graph...

Or a basic understanding of statistics!

Population of NY: 8.419 million
Population of Florida: 21.48 million

Peak of Florida 7 day MA case graph as presented by Mercor: 30,000
Peak of New York 7 day MA case graph as presented by you: 16,000

30,000 / 21,480,000 = .13%
16,000 / 8,419,000 = .19%

Winner: Florida.

When did New York kill off so many people?????????????

Please Tell us all Tsing Tao that you are smarter than that....

HOLY SHIT.... YOU HAVE THE NERVE THE LECTURE ME ON A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF STATISTICS?

hahahahahahahahahahaha

New York has 8,000,000 people???????

you just lost all credibility

This is what happens when I post before coffee. I should know better, too. Because I constantly tell my folks to check whether numbers pass the smell test. I just took Google's answer (because I didn't know the answer) and went through it quickly:

Google yourself the same question and get the same answer.

But there's no way it can be 8.4M, I should have caught that.

But at least it made your day, as you're on a posting spree now :) 4 posts now on the same topic? That's all?

In case there is any confusion,

Here is what Mr. "I only speak facts" said:

In order to bullshit us he fakes the population of NY as 8,419,000 people..... while FLORIDA has 21,480,000!!!!!!!!

When did NY kick out 11,000,000 people???????????

30,000/21,480,000 = .13%
16,000/19,200,000 =??????

Winner..... hmmmm

5 posts on the same subject. How many more times do you need to make the same point? I know its a rare thing to get me on something, but I've admitted the mistake. At least you're a not a sore winner or something.

Oh, and I admit when I've made a mistake. Have you done so on any thread here?

But Florida is the winner on deaths per capita:

View attachment 270962

According to your chart, Florida had more cases, total deaths, but less deaths per 1,000,000.

We all can find a metric to highlight in a sea of other data....

I am not going to say Florida was horrible compared to NY because NY fucked up a lot early on because this is 100% new to any of us.

But the data does not support the conclusion that Florida was way better without any strict protocols. Many states put strict restrictions on travel to Florida during the early stages of COVID in 2020 yet still more deaths (albeit FL has higher population and probably more seniors). Was just in Orlando and outside of Disney there are really no efforts to follow any preventive measures because the message from the top was ignore it.

DeSantis did not have to follow the huge lockdowns and all out offensives but he could have at least not tried to run for president over COVID and be a little more reasonable.

Statistics are just formal ways to support opinions so I am not going to focus on the data as it speaks for itself and then we all get to put whatever message we want.

P.S. Was fucking with you on the mistake you made because it was obvious it pulled up NYC and not NYS haha...

we all have done that.
