Active cases : Florida 960,000, Canada 34,600.

So apparently at least 1 in every 22 people in Florida have an active case of Covid. And in the last month deaths have ramped up every week; this is not a case of a relatively benign disease spreading rapidly. Thousands of people are dying needlessly right now.
 
Good article on masks. The title is a bit misleading. If you read it, it pretty much says surgical masks work fairly well, cloth masks don't do shit. I have kind of thought as much, I mean my kids have to wear things that open up the top a bit to keep their glasses from fogging up in class so the mask isn't doing much. My question is, if we are really serious about this, why aren't we handing out surgical masks at the door every day at schools along with mandatory training on how to use the effectively.

It is important not to talk in absolutes when there is a small army of idiots in the US that just need a reason, any reason, to ignore most safety precautions. Imagine if the entire world had Florida numbers right now.

I get it, like I think there is a pretty good chance this thing leaked from the Wuhan lab, but even if true I don't think we should say that because hundreds of random Asians will be killed by rednecks. It really doesn't matter anyway because of economic and actual MAD with China there is not a lot we can do about it if it was. This was a large sample size that says cloth masks just don't work, so provide masks that do work. If we haven't ramped up production on surgical masks enough to do this, then shame on us.
