Florida was one of the primary starting points of Delta in the U.S. DeSantis refused to report on variants in Florida. The wide initial spread of Delta Covid to other states is his responsibility -- he failed to take any measures to stop it & even did everything possible to pretend it did not exist. For example - as documented -- the first thirty something Delta cases in North Carolina were all directly associated with people who traveled to Florida and brought it back.

Second, your post is essentially BS. To suggest Florida was the sole responsible state for Delta assumes that:

2. No immigrants having Delta came in through the wide open southern border (asinine)

Yes... DeSantis let Delta run wild. He hid all the variant data, pretended it did not exist, and took no mitigation measures.... all of this led to the obvious results -- infected Florida widely and impacting other states.

Immigrants who crossed the border normally have other strains of Covid if they test positive (a reminder that apprehended illegal immigrants are the most tested group in the U.S.). Sadly most illegal immigrants did not cross the border with Covid -- they caught Covid in crowded detention facilities in the U.S.

You know if DeSantis has problems with the death figures being released by the Federal government then he can go back to reporting daily Covid data.

Once again let's outline that four states; Florida, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota stopped providing daily COVID reports this summer. Two of these states; South Dakota and Nebraska started providing daily COVID reports again. This leaves Florida and Iowa as the only states in the U.S. not providing daily COVID reports. Only one of these two states is a current epi-center of COVID in the U.S. Can someone explain why DeSantis has not required that Florida start providing daily COVID reports?

As noted earlier the first 38 cases or so of Delta found in North Carolina were contact traced with a direct Florida connection (i.e. these people came from Florida). After this they gave up contact tracing the Delta cases since the volume was increasing greatly. I am sure there are many other additional cases of Delta in N.C. with a Delta connection in the early days of Delta growth.
