Is the CDC telling the cruise lines people need to be vaccinated to take a cruise? I’m asking? I agree a private company
should somewhat be able to dictate their policy.
Yes... a condition of allowing cruises is that 95% of passengers must be vaccinated in order to start cruises. Most cruise lines have gone beyond this -- for example for its first cruise on the Celebrity Edge in June is stating that only passengers 16 and older are allowed & 100% of passengers be vaccinated.
Does everyone remember the infected cruise ships floating around the ocean in spring of last year where no port would take them in while COVID spread widely and quickly on the crowded cruise ships? Nobody -- the cruise lines or CDC -- want a repeat of these fiascoes. The only way to ensure its prevention is to have a very high level of crew and passengers vaccinated on cruises -- above the herd immunity levels.
And that’s their right. Just like not leaving the house ever. What the point of getting vaccinated? Live your life.
By a large majority -- the customers for cruise lines will not show up --- unless nearly everyone on the ships are required to be vaccinated. Meeting your customer expectations is important if you wish to remain in business. Seeing that the cruise lines are running out of cash -- they better re-launch cruises in a manner where their customers will show up again.
No I believe this is the cruise line saying it would be a requirement possibly as a means to entice people back to feel safe on the ship if only vaccinated people will be going for the short term. You know cramped in and packed in unless they limit capacity up front.
I have not heard that it is ACTUALLY the policy, just a proposal some lines were suggesting.
This might not actually happen but was floated around unless I missed an article saying it was a CCL or RCL policy. I don't think Disney has said vaccine card holders only..
It is the policy on all three major cruise lines; RCL, Norwegian, and Carnival. Passengers 16 and over must provide proof of vaccination before departing on a cruise.

Transportation on rail, planes, and sea is under FEDERAL oversight. Especially if the ship is going to International locations. Florida has no legal oversight into transportation covered by federal regulations. This has all been fully outlined in articles citing lawyers who are experts in this area of law.
DeSantis is trying to "regulate" something he has no control over to make political points.
I was in Publix yesterday and it was packed, not knowing who and who hasn't been vaccinated. Some wearing and some not wearing masks. I think people that are vaccinated will still travel with those that are not.The numbers will show and I do not disagree with you as those are all valid points. I just think their is COVID fatigue and at some point it's going to be business as usual in all industries.
The point that you make about going into international waters is the one that will definitely be the driver of vaccination or not.
