DeSantis for the win

Once again I have to spell it out, by just repeating what I said ".... commenting on the trend". 4 words, geez, you would think it would be easy.

Repeat comment, not stats.

If you don't want to comment on the blatant uptrend in deaths just say soooooo.

I've already done so.

Just fyi, my death chart was just Texas, selfishly that's the only data I look at. We went from our highest ever day of 700 cases yesterday to today a new highest day of 1000 in Dallas, that's just scary for our hospitals. Even though the Governor mandated masks yesterday, at least my county has already said they won't enforce it with the fines, went out today and it's still maybe 10% at best at the Aldi I went to.

Interesting. It almost exactly mirrors the Florida pattern, but is more exacerbated.

People aren't going to wear masks (the majority) and people aren't going to shut down again. Not unless someone forces them under threat of arrest. So we're just going to have to plow through this. The spike up in cases is going to spread to other states, and eventually back into NY and NJ. The good thing about that is that when all is said and done, the mortality rate will be very, very low. It might not be at generic flu level low, but it'll be low.

That chart seems accurate, though the Y axis is a custom range for emphasis on trend. Here is the one I use (from the Worldometers).

Based on this data, there does seem to be a tick up in the MA. We will have to see what this means in the next week. Also, my guess is you will see similar upticks soon in other states (eventually every state) as they open up completely.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if you open up, more people are going to get the virus. If more people get the virus, you would think we'd have more deaths.

You do have more deaths. Not absolutely more but more then you should have given how far we are into this virus event.

That's a subjective response, NE. Valid, but valid opinion. Outside of the philosophy that "one death is too many" (which I'd agree with) it doesn't prove anything about how Florida's death rate is too many and when compared to other states, is proof of poor planning or incorrect policy. The Death Per Million pop measure shows Florida way, way down the list.

Just curious, why do you make up stuff on the fly like this? I've not used the data from the Florida portal (the so-called DeSantis portal that YOU even used in the past) in a while, specifically because I know you'll just claim BS on it. Even though there's no evidence it is BS.

Instead, I've used the Worldometers site. I've also used Google's own count, and the stats coming from the Covid National site. DeSantis or Florida have no influence on these sites.

So stop making shit up! Be honest for once!

You posted charts from the DeSantis portal on Tuesday of this week on page 41 of this thread.

I only posted information from the DeSantis portal to show incorrect it was after they fired the GIS worker.

And did you actually read that post at all or just get triggered on the picture?

I specifically called out the fact that the first source (which was worldometers) was showing the same thing, and as a reference I pointed to the DeSantis data - but clearly called out that some (mostly you, of course) would have a problem with that source. This is the reason I provided an alternative source, and have done so since.

I noticed something in this Florida chart Tsing. The daily deaths were running 40, 50, 60 in April and they are still running 40, 50, 60 with a much higher daily increase in cases. You may have pointed this out before, but I thought that the virus was running out of control ----Please advise----

Yet you had no explanation in your post on why the other source completely differed from the DeSantis website. Have you come up with an explanation yet?

Can you explain why DeSantis administration deliberately did not report COVID hospitalizations for months?

I appreciate you trying to lead the witness :)

I've explained this multiple times in the past. You just don't want to accept the explanation. The non-florida site puts all the reported deaths in the day they were reported. The Florida site puts them in the day they occurred, regardless of when they were reported. This leads to overall day discrepancies, but doesn't affect the totals. It also leads to the florida site being revised daily, while the non-florida site never gets revised (because it doesn't have to be). Honestly, a 9 year old could grasp this concept. None of this changes the fact that deaths are still low, which is the number one problem you have. You want more people to die so you can say "See! DeSantis is an idiot!"

At this time, it has become far too time consuming to answer the same thing over and over to you. I'm sorry, gwb. You're intentionally trying to distract and waste my time. There's no more value in engaging you on this topic. I really, really wish you could be a reasonable person, but your desire to be right far, far supersedes your care of actually being right. If you continue to spam the thread with the same pointless conversations, I'm just going to move you to the blocked/ignore status until all this is over.

I am happy to debate honestly, with facts that are supported in data. Even articles if you want to post them. But if you're just going to troll, go piss off and find someone else. I no longer have time for this stupid version of you.
