I hear you. And your point is well taken. Deaths could still rise, and it could possibly get really bad. But I don't think so. Again, I don't think so. What I'm tired of is blatant, slanted and misleading rhetoric designed to make a man look bad simply because the people who bet against him aren't yet correct. With each day that goes by and things don't get bad (deaths) the rhetoric gets louder and louder. People in this thread have been saying "death rates lag two weeks" back at the end of May, and here we are at the beginning of July.
I am perfectly willing to admit my error if it gets really bad and there are a lot more deaths. I hope this doesn't happen - not because I don't want to be wrong, but I'd rather people not die!
This should be the position everyone takes.
I hope he is not wrong because think of people from other States.
My state went into lockdown mid March and closed schools and had businesses close down and we went into many restrictions. Were pretty good for what we had to do. Phase 1 was delayed a few extra weeks and now we are mostly in Phase 2. We suffered but for the good of the area we did what we had to do:
My county has 1,000,000 people....very well populated for not being a city:
10,906 cases 383 confirmed deaths
We fucking crushed it.
My State has 1600 confirmed deaths...my state fucking crushed it (sad for those who did die).
BUT.....FL, AZ and TX where things were...shall we say more lazy, are now starting some spiking and it is making our state nervous and roll back some of the freedoms we fought hard to gain by quarantining...
So that is why I am a little pissed at Desantis crowing like a fuck waffle while his numbers spike, same with leaders in AZ and TX. Because it fucks it up for the rest of us that made the sacrifice and though normal is deferred to 2021, we were starting to able to do more even with masks (hit the dentist, Costco, had a mini BBQ etc..).
