A poll by Future Majority conducted among 1,585 likely Florida voters between August 14 and 17 found that DeSantis would defeat both Democrats in the race for governor.
The survey showed DeSantis defeating Crist by 49 percent to 45 percent and beating Fried by 49 percent to 44 percent.
Future Majority was founded by Democratic strategists in 2018 and aims to support Democratic candidates. The poll's margin of error is 3 percent for the broadest samples and was conducted through an online survey.
However, a poll from the Political Matrix/The Listener Group conducted between August 14 and 18 among 1,000 likely Florida voters found that DeSantis would lose in matchups against both Crist and Fried.
The survey showed DeSantis defeating Crist by 49 percent to 45 percent and beating Fried by 49 percent to 44 percent.

A Florida judge on Friday struck down Gov. Ron DeSantis' ban on mask mandates in schools as unconstitutional.
"We all zealously protect our personal rights," Cooper said. "We can drink until we're intoxicated...but we cannot get in our car and start driving around while we've had alcoholic beverages that impair our ability to drive. We all have the right to drink alcohol, but the driver's right to drive intoxicated is limited by the government."
"When we talk about absolute and fundamental rights, there's always a footnote," Cooper added. "Well, let's see if exercising this right harms other people."

The Political Matrix/The Listener Group survey results also show DeSantis trailing either Democrat Charlie Crist or Nikki Fried in a potential matchup for Governor.

Florida on Friday reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that 27,584 COVID-19 cases were added Thursday, according to Miami Herald calculations of CDC data.
The state also reported eight new deaths Thursday. In all, Florida has added at least 3,179,493 confirmed COVID cases statewide and 43,640 deaths.
The cases added on Thursday broke the state’s current single-day case total record. On Aug. 24 26,385 cases were added on a single day, according to Herald calculations of data provided by the CDC.

At this point I actually expect DeSantis to win the Florida's gubernatorial election in 2022. However it is still early and things can change. However the fact that some polls are showing DeSantis not in the lead at this point is not a good sign for his prospects -- I would normally expect a governor who is definitively going to win an election to have a 10 point lead against any possible opponent one year out from the election.
