DeSantis for the win

Unless CDC or federal guidleines change, DeSantis is not going to win this won on his own as he does not have the power to do so for interstate commerce. The cruise ships lease the space and paid for the building of the terminals there and the new renovations. de Santis does not own the port and all the property and lord over it.

Why you so upset the cruise lines want proof of vaccine....
Why you so loyal to a politician who does nothing for you...
I'm not upset at all. I happen to think that DeSantis preemptively anticipated the coming vax passport tyranny and is taking action. Even that doesn't bother me because I mostly fly myself in a small twin or travel in a private vessel and will ignore whatever the Karens come up with. Unless the feds plan to put jackboots in every tiny airport in the country I doubt I'm gonna have any issues lol.

Like you mentioned I think its a bill not an EO so it has to pass into law so who knows what will happen. I don't know Florida politics very well yet.

The leases require, as many do, that the occupiers continuously conduct the business for which the berths where leased to them so the cruise lines unwilling to comply with local law would have to break or otherwise terminate their leases. Those leases may automatically be terminated if the lessor is not in compliance with local law. Vessels could be seized for fees as is common all over the world.

The state law says the ban on businesses requiring proof of vaccination “does not otherwise restrict businesses from instituting screening protocols consistent with authoritative or controlling government-issued guidance to protect public health.”

The CDC requires that 95 percent of cruise ship passengers and 98 percent of crew members be fully vaccinated.

Cruise ships following CDC federal guidelines which trump state guidelines with respect to international travel.

If Copa Airlines said it will not allow anyone on their planes at Miami airport unless they prove vaccination, they probably can do that... not my call whether it is excessive or right.

Fed > State.

This is not maritime law with a litte yacht being seized for not paying berth fees.

That ship specifically caused a blockage of the canal and damages in lost time and fees. A suit was filed and the ship was seized as per established International Maritime Law of vessel seizure. Also this is another country by the way...

RCL requiring vaccine proof is not violating any law or causing blockage of a canal or damage to the port.

Yeah ok.

Keep that all in mind during your taxi ride from Isla Verde to old San Juan to catch your RCL ship.

RCL generates billions in revenue for the State of Florida.

RCL planning to build a newer HQ in Miami and spend hundreds of millions of dollars and double its workforce.

$$ > DeCan'tis

De Santis is just making noise to woo his sycophants like the tech ban law.

Governor Ron just announced a $5,000.00 fine per passenger per occurrence if any cruise embarkation requires proof of COVID vaccine.

Looks like its an executive order after all. I think he is serious.

We will see... we are both premature as I heard there is a hearing next week on the cruise ship requirements.
