Good piece yesterday on 60 minutes about H1B visa abuse and how its killing american workers.

It's been going on for about 20 years. I have front line experience, from training them locally to travelling to india to train them for offshore work. once they are trained, I'm let go. I didn't want the assignment but it's either do it or quit. I'm glade i learnt trading. And It's about time someone expose the mess.

How many low wage earners can be employed when an individual at the top is reduced from 150 million a year to 120 million a year. How is their life affected vs how many lives are affected at the bottom when jobs are created with re-channeling corp profits. As you can see I am not just talking about minimum wage but more local employment vs corp savings from cheap foreign labor, or reallocation of profits. How many homes or 100+k cars do individuals at the top need. When does excess become grotesque. Give it some thought, and ask yourself these question. You may never understand unless you've lived with excess.
Employed doing what? I already live with excess. No man who has made as many mistakes as I have made should have as much as I have. People at the top don't need anything. Wages should always be higher. Get with the program. The goal is for all wages for everybody to always go higher, the sky is the limit.

I guess you didn't give it much thought. How about starting off with position to create new employment, venture capitalist come to mind? Whatever program you're on, you should tune in properly and stop watching the flicker. Ever met a guy with 4x GT3s. And a Ford GT in every color? They are not his daily drivers, he has a bentley, BMW and a couple of mercedes for daily use, homes on each coast and mid-west. The circle he runs in try to out do each other, one guy has a bugatti and another collects Ferrari's. And I haven't mention track days and boats. They talk about the excess but they earned it. And a bit ashamed.
What kind of excess are you referring to?

I would consider anything more than I need to be excess for me. I don't need much so I have a lot of excess. I don't concern myself with your excess because it is none of my business. If you can show me how your excess harms me maybe I'll look into it.

@lylec305 Yeah we can cap max wage and redistribute to the workers. It's tough though.
The wealth redistribution will invariably have complaints from the top. They have more pull than the inner city family surviving on 30K/year.

It's the end it's just other form of welfare, arguably a better one. As my point is, the tough proposition is reaching the middle ground where both sides will agree on. I don't believe even Trump's administration can pull that one off.

On behavior and excess, who cares what someone else does? If they want to blow their money on frivolous things, drugs or whatever it's a free country. I'll support wealth redistribution from the 0.1% but not any form of social control.

Believe it or not, the excess i'm referring to has nothing to do with you. The redistribution of wealth needs to be addressed from the top 10% to the bottom 47%. Some do it voluntarily others not so much. This exposes the elite against Trump. The tax burden has maxed out the middle class, there's no more to wring out. Soon they will be joining and increasing the 47%. Tax breaks for the top .1% maybe in order for job creation. They can invest in startup(s) to grow their wealth. The startup must employ Americans. Sounds simple but you all wouldn't believe the amount going offshore.

It's not an either or argument.

Either let in foreign workers OR have a irrationally high minimum wage

Just get rid of the foreigner workers and keep the minimum wage as is.

Kids work for the minimum wage. They won't work for the six dollars an hour paid to philipinos. If companies want to pay more then 11 bucks they can

The border tax and onshoring does that.

Offshoring just benefited shareholders (top 5%) at the expense of blue collar America (who got pink slips and food stamps in return). Onshoring reverses that. It's a massive wealth transfer from the rich back to the middle and lower class in terms of accelerated wage growth

I don't know where you are, but where I am the filipinos already get min wage.

Nobody supporting anti immigration ever talks about whether when the filipinos are gone will the kids even take up the min wag jobs.

Temp foreign workers aren't paid the minimum wage. In agriculture they're paid a bit more then half the minimum wage. I'd have to look it up
