I favor the Police ( including border control) doing their jobs. The Judges doing their jobs.
The Politician doing their jobs. That's why they are paid for and voted in for.

Go tell the bad guys that and see if they agree. If life is lived by a book and you get the bad guys to read it and sing off the same song sheet, you may have something there. But sometimes the law isn't there and the bad guys don't read and have a different song sheet. In a life or death situation it's best to have a plan B in place, and maybe even a plan C.
