I dont think hating Biden so much is a good enough reason to only see debt created after January 21st... We all know Dems spend but what trump did was basically prove GOP doesnt care either as long as they get their tax cuts.
The Democrats can raise the debt limit with the tools available to them or they can default.
No Republican is going to enable the insane and mostly useless spending by a bunch of leftists.
Mitch has offered a short term continuing resolution that would allow Democrats until December to work out raising the debt limit via reconciliation. I'm afraid that is as far as Republicans are going to go.
Mazie Hirono has already rejected the offer outright so we are headed for shutdown and default around October 18th.
As I've said, I think the people who elected these clowns need to get it good and hard. A great Depression 2.0 would ensure that every household in the country feels the pain and begins to associate their votes with consequences.

Democrats and Republicans tend to spend money on much different things.
If the Republicans wanted to spend wildly on programs the Democrats did not want then the Republicans would be responsible for raising any debt limits needed for that spending. One would not expect Democrats to support either the spending or raising the debt limit for such spending.
Either way the oscillatory nature of our system makes it hard for anyone to make trade deals or military pacts with us because who the hell knows what America will do every 4 years.
