OK in 2015 GOP Senators said the Wall estimates are $12 to $15 billion.
"I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I'll build them very inexpensively — I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words."
2017 Trumps asks fro $18 billion for his Wall
2017 DHS says it will cost about $21.8 billion to build the Wall. This figures goes up when private land aquisition costs and maintenance are factored in.
GAO report said it will cost way more than $15 to $20 billion forecasted due to many items not included in the GOP forecasts.
December 2018 Trump said that a wall between the U.S. and Mexico could cost as little as $15 billion and pay for itself in as little as a month, a departure from the $25 billion barrier he once promised would be underwritten by Mexico.
BUT Trump then said: "...law enforcement officers are able to deal with efforts by undocumented immigrants to cross into the U.S., even without a wall. Our great people are able to easily handle it," he said. "Without the wall, it gets tougher. But you know what, they still handle it."
Then Trump went begging for money: President Trump has asked all Cabinet agencies to find extra money that could be used to build his border wall, the White House said Tuesday. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Mr. Trump has asked all federal agencies “to look and see if they have money that can be used for that purpose.”
So without actual factual justification I am perplexed why some of you are supporting $15 to $20 billion minimum to build a wall which you will pay for (tax cuts plus increased spending = increased deficits), not Mexico as promised, and are OK that Trump has backed all the way down to $5 billion for this Wall that he THEN ADMITS is not really needed since border patrol is handling it, but it would help. $25 billion is a lot for something that helps a little.
I want to hear something factual about the Wall stopping the 50-60% of illegals or higher percentage of drugs that enter through airports and ports of entry rather than drug mules. Also why not just improve existing facilities rather than build a 2000 mile wall that ladders and tunnels are mocking.
This is not an OPEN v. CLOSED border issue, this is a supposed intelligent graduate of Trump University looking to spend billions to address the smallest part of the problem and intelligent voters accepting it without question.
